Fall Break

Image
When the kids would tell me they didn’t want to go back to school after a week off, I got it, but I didn’t GET it until now. Now that I’m a teacher and know how much a school day takes out of you, it makes the week go by even faster! But it’s a good thing we have them, otherwise I don’t think anyone would do it. Right as you’re about to go crazy, they give you time off to recoup and do it again 😉 I am so thankful we didn’t have any plans over this break too because that’s what I needed. Lillian started her job at Vivette’s and officially has a horse she can ride anytime she wants.  She still does twice a week lessons, but she has been up there everyday feeding, riding, grooming and just hanging out and getting to know him. But since she can’t drive, that’s also meant I have been up and going each morning too. But a 6:30-7:00 alarm is WAY better than my 4:45 school day one so I’m not complaining.  Of course a break from school means time with Koy But we also had a big girls night on We

HOCO Week

It’s been a busy week in Benton with all the homecoming festivities. There were dress up days every day at school but this is the only pic I got It’s a homecoming tradition to roll friends houses and we got rolled (pretty terribly though, lol) and Lilli went a couple of times too.  We went to the game Friday night and then the main event was the dance last night. Cara came to help with hair and makeup and she looked beautiful. This was her and Koy’s 3rd dance together and it was a great night.  There was a group of 35 kids that met at one house for pics at 3:30, we had dinner at Kobe’s at 5:00, the dance was at 7:00, and then about 15 of them came back here after to hang out in the pool and around a fire pit.  On top of the high school festivities, Kathleen had another home game where she cheered with pep squad and Yaya came to cheer her on.  And Cozy had a birthday and is now officially 1! Lillian made her a cake and had me out at 8:00 at Petsmart the night before because she had forg

Lots of Football and Almost Fall Break!

There’s only 5 more school days before we have a full week off for fall break, and I’m ready! Last week was busy with school and lots of football, and it’s tiring to have something 5 evenings a week. School may be tiring, but it’s such a blessing to be there with Kathleen. She comes to eat lunch with me in my room occasionally, and every other week we have “team time” (during school hours clubs) and she comes to do yoga with me Dad came last Monday to watch Lillian at her riding lesson, and stayed through Wednesday so that he could watch Kathleen cheer Tuesday night too. She’s loving it and he really enjoyed the football 🏈 part too  And Friday was another Benton High game, but I had to skip that one because I was showing a house and then writing an offer. Lillian had a great time though! And Saturday was a quick trip to Baron Rouge for the LSU football game. We’ve had it planned for over a month, and had 21 friends and family at the tailgate and 17 of us went into the game. Jennifer a

Lately…

We’ve been busy around here lately. Teal season started last weekend and the girls have spent both with Matt at the camp. I’ve had quite a bit of work to do to catch up on things for school and have stayed home. The second picture is Kathleen being mad at me for being at school early, yet again. I was naïve to think I’d be able to get most of my stuff done during planning, and with the girls having stuff five nights a week, the extra work has been falling on early mornings and weekends. I’m exhausted! But at least I love the kids. Lillian’s still loving horseback riding, even though this horse that she loves bucked her off the other day. Thankfully, she didn’t even bruise, but it was enough to scare me for a second. Not nearly as much as practicing driving is going to though!  Kathleen did get a fun day at school Friday when she had an obstacle course for the money she raised for her fundraiser and Yaya checked her out to go to lunch  And Lillian has been busy with homecoming planning.

Horses and Huntin’

We’ve had some country girls around here lately. Lillian is really getting into her horseback riding and is trying to work out a deal with her instructor to be able to ride more in exchange for work. She’s got this one horse that she really likes and he doesn’t get ridden very often because he can’t be a regular lesson horse after he bucked someone off last year. Prior to that, he was one of Vivette’s best horses so it’s kind of a win-win for her because she wants someone to ride him regularly. That didn’t scare our country girl and her mama was willing to sign the waiver, so she and Little Rock are getting to be friends. She would LOVE to rodeo but I think we are still far from than, and convincing her Dad is a whole other hurdle 😉 so she’s happy with her twice a week for now in hopes it will be more soon. We did get to go watch some of her friends in the Benton rodeo last Friday  We left there late and got to the camp around midnight for a weekend of hunting with the family  It turn
