Congratulations Pops and Honey!
I'm going to steal Honey's words from Facebook because I found it so perfect:
"From the moment Duane Craig and I first got serious I made it clear that I would always love Ed and I also knew he would always love his late wife Kathy. I believed my heart was big enough and vast enough to love again in a new and different way. You see, new love does not replace what was lost. New love is its own force and holds a unique and wonderful place in a heart that loves more deeply because lessons learned. A heart that understands the brevity of life and the importance of living in the moment.
He looked me in the eyes and said "Will you marry me?" I said "Yes!!!!"
We are thrilled over the engagement announcement and it makes my heart so happy that my Dad has found someone that makes him happy again. It's what we've all been hoping for and I know for sure it's what my Mom wants. I'm reminded of a friend asking me when Katie was born how it's possible to love your second child as much as the first because your heart is already full. I told them it doesn't make you love the first child any less, your heart just doubles. I think the same is true here and I'm really looking forward to getting to know her family as they plan the wedding over the next few months.
The girls and I met him in Alexandria to tell him congratulations face to face and for a late Father's Day lunch yesterday. It was so good to see the smile. We got there early for a visit with Peggy for a few hours before he got there. The girls had a great time swimming in her pool before we met him for lunch and the drive really isn't bad. We may have to do it more often when we're busier this fall.
