Southern Classic and More Birthday

Last Friday was a belated birthday celebration with Cara and Luke. We went to Pepito’s XO and had an adult night for the first time in forever. Lilli and Kathleen stayed home alone for the first time past dark and did great. They were hanging out together when we got back! I expected to find them each in their own rooms, so I was pleasantly surprised.

Dinner was delicious and it was nice to catch up with friends.

This travel sports is a whole new world for us. I feel like we are either just getting back from a meet or preparing for the next one, but we are loving every minute. This past weekend we had the Southern Classic in Hammond and made it a long weekend since it’s also spring break. We drove down on Saturday morning and went on to Covington to Michaelyn and Rick’s house for the night. We always love hanging out by the pool and looking at the water and taking a boat ride. The bayou to the river is where the movie “Where the Crawdads Sing” was partially filmed.

We were sad Ryan was flying and Matt wasn’t feeling great, so neither of them could make it, but it was a fun night.

We were up bright and early to drive to Hammond for the Southern Classic meet. Kathleen did really well and placed 2nd overall in beam (her fave!). She honestly fumbled a little on her floor routine. She forgot a turn, and her split second stall of collecting herself, was enough to drop her down to an 8.6. Now, 8s are still great(!), but it took her out of the running for an overall placement. (She came in 12th out of 21)  If she would have done her normal 9.5 on that event she would have been 3rd overall. But that’s ok, you can’t win them all and it will motivate her to do even better next time! And we are all still super proud of course! ❤️

We drove back to Baton Rouge after the meet and had enough time for naps before we met the whole family out for dinner.

On Monday, we got up and visited with Nana at her place before we took all the kids to the trampoline park.
The girls and I worked the food pantry with Pops that afternoon

And then went back to Jen’s for a final birthday celebration

All the adults were able to visit while the kids spent hours outside, riding around on their new golf cart and going down to the park. We had catered fajitas and my favorite strawberry cake. It was a wonderful weekend, but a very tiring one. Piper had school today so we got up and left the house before seven so that we could be back by 11 AM and have a quiet afternoon. So glad we have the rest of the week off!
