I Need Some New Frames

Image
We had church directory pictures taken a few weeks ago and those finally came in.  Plus, the girls spring pictures were too cute not to buy so I'm going to need some new frames! I can't choose my favorites but here they are.  I can't wait to get them on the walls. :)

Our Kindergarten Graduate

Image
I can't believe my little girl walked across a stage in a cap and gown this morning. Yes, I realize it's only a kindergarten graduation. But that didn't stop me from shedding tears during the ceremony.  I know I'm going to blink and the next thing I know I'm going to be digging through our filing cabinet looking for these pictures to put next to her high school graduation photo. Ok, ok, maybe I'm getting ahead of myself, but it really goes by too quickly.  The whole ceremony was about an hour and a half. Each of the 125+ kids got to walk across the stage. And then there was a slideshow and they sang. She did great and was the cutest one there (says me of course ;)  Katie had fun watching with Yaya. They whispered to each other as they watched. Two peas in a pod And of course Katie thinks Lilli was amazing and wants to be just like her. (She couldn't wait to try it on when we got home) Congratulations Lilli Leigh! We are all so proud of you!

Dancing Under the Stars

We woke up Saturday morning to go visit Nana who had just had knee replacement surgery on Wednesday. She is tough for a woman of 87. The physical therapist said she was where she needed to be 2 weeks after surgery after only 3 days.  From there we went to see the work on Pops and Honeys new house before meeting all the cousins at the hotel to swim for the afternoon.  They love being together! And all but Katie (who was napping with her Daddy) stayed in the pool for over 2 hours until it was time to go to Morgan's graduation dinner at Jimmy and Theresa's. It was so nice to get to catch up with her. She's been interviewing all around the country and has no idea where she'll end up so I was glad to get the chance.  As much as I love the family visits, the best part of the day (to me at least ;) was going to see The Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra play The Beatles. It was at the LSU Rural Life Museum. I had never been there before and it was beautiful. The music was amazing ...

Happy Mother's Day

Image
Happy Mother's Day to all of the Moms in my life. But I want to wish an especially big one to the special ladies that are Moms to me and Grandmothers to our girls.  (And it's not intentional that they are all pictures with Katie- these are just the most recent ones I have ;) They are my rocks and the ones I turn to when I need advice about kids or to vent a minute to stay sane. I may have lost my Mom 6 years ago, but I am definitely not motherless. I am so blessed to have them all in my life. Love to all on this Mothers Day!

Muffins, Field Day and Pool Fun

Image
First Friends had their Muffins with Mom celebration for Mother's Day this morning. I had to teach so I let Katie stay in my class with me while my students were eating with their Moms so we could still celebrate together.  We also had field day and once Katie realized what fun the "big kids" we're having, there was no way she was going to her class. So I let her stay with me. She had fun bowling, doing an egg race, hopper race and horseshoes. It was fun to have her with me for the day even though it's technically against the rules. :)  Then, after school, all four of us got in the car to head to Baton Rouge. My cousin, Morgan, graduated with her masters last week and we decided to come in for her party. There are so many people here for it that no one had a bed for us so Pops and Honey got us a hotel.  We got in around 6:25 and they met us here for pizza and wine by the pool. It was a nice, relaxing evening before what is sure to be a busy weekend.

Lilli's First Project

Image
Lilli's final homework assignment of the year is a "family project" on Colorado. Each kid in the class got a different state that was randomly chosen. There were certain guidelines for things that had to be included but we could add anything extra she found interesting. So of course what she added was animals that could be found there. I looked them up and printed them but she glued them and wrote on the poster.  We practiced her presentation and even emailed her teacher a recording of John Lennon's Rocky Mountain High to play in the background during it. She is very proud of her first project and I'm proud that she was so in to it and didn't even ask for more help. But the best part? Homework is done for the year!! :)

3 Year Old Interview

Asking birthday interview questions is a tradition I started when Lilli was 3 and I started with Katie yesterday. It's always so funny to hear the responses and there are always a few surprises. 1.
