April catch up

Image
It's only been about 2 1/2 weeks since my last post, but it honestly feels like forever ago. We have been so busy and I'm not exaggerating when I say we are almost never home before 8:00. Our schedule right now is non stop but only 17 more school days until summer!  I can't say our schedule is all because of "have to's" either. We have plenty between work, school and the kid stuff, but a lot of it is fun. We went to see Taylor's band again one night We love supporting her and it's always so fun.  Kathleen had what may be her last gymnastics meet. She has lost her love of the sport for everything but floor so we finished the season with the state meet in New Orleans.  It was fun to watch her and we got a visit with the family in Baton Rouge the night before. She had an evaluation at a cheer gym in Benton and, based on her skills, they have her trying out for an elite (highest level) team in a couple of weeks. Even if she doesn't make that, she'l...

March Catch Up

Only 28 more days of school and I will be DONE. I have decided not to go back to teaching, at least not next year and not middle school, so in 6 weeks I will be enjoying my first day of summer vacation. I'll decide from there what the future holds, but I can say long term teachers are saints. This job is not for the weak, and you can talk about breaks all you want, but I can promise you if teachers didn't get them, you would have NO ONE willing to do this job.  I think my last post was the very start of spring break. We had a good time and didn't do too much. Lillian did her driving for driver's ed and has been practicing a lot. She rode her horse/worked and both girls hung out with friends some    Lillian asked Yaya if she could borrow a camera a while back, and then when she met Jackson she realized he had that hobby too. They have been taking turns practicing at riding lessons and baseball games.  We went down to Baton Rouge to celebrate my birthday with Nana. She...

It's My Birthday and a Month of Catch-up

Image
I celebrated my 43rd birthday yesterday with a quiet day at home. I've had a cold for a few days so I spent it napping on and off on the couch and watching movies. But the day with Matt and the girls was special, especially since it rarely happens. He spoiled me with a fancy, home cooked meal, and the text from my Mom's best friend each year always makes my day. She is programmed in my phone as Glenda, but for some reason, anytime she texts me, it shows up as "Mom." She never misses a big event, so I swear it's my mom using her message to say hi 😊 Life has been busy with school, work, pep squad, gymnastics, horseback riding.... It seems like we are never home. But we find time for Lillian to have hang outs with her friends and for me to get girl time too. Cara and I have a goal of once a month and I try to do the same with Kelli too.  Plus, there's a new boy in Lillian's life that is taking up time too. It's new, only about a month, but she likes Jack...

Youth Weekend and Girl Time

Image
Last weekend was one of the best weekends of Matt's life. It was youth weekend in Arkansas and just him and his girls went to the camp for a morning together. He couldn't carry a gun and never fired shot and they got a limit. Kathleen got her first one in the air and Matt said Lillian can out shoot most men he knows. She even got one with her great-grandfather's "Sweet 16."  It was a super special weekend I know they will all always remember. The girls have really been enjoying some girl time lately too. We have gone to see Lillian's friend's band twice We've been to basketball and baseball games, to dinner and of course time at Vivette's with Little Rock too  It's been a nice few weeks and I'm loving watching them do all the things they love

Southside Meet and More Birthdaying

Kathleen had her first NGA meet of the season at Centenary on Saturday and it went really well. She did have a fall on the beam, and her vault can still use some work, but she managed to come in 1st on the floor and bars and 2nd  all around! We would've been proud no matter what the score, but of course it's always exciting to win. Pops and Honey came in town for the whole weekend, Capn and Yaya were there, and Kelli came to cheer her on too!  Friday was a big day all around. Kathleen skipped school and went down to Baton Rouge Thursday with Brian and Sadie. We joined this thing called "Tumbling Tigers" through LSU and it got them access on the floor during warm-ups and introductions. They got autographs from some of the gymnasts too. Brian decided to make a little mini vacation out of it and they went to the old and new state capitals, a baseball scrimmage and walked around campus a little bit before the meet that night. Lillian wasn't even mad about having to go...
