Deer Camp Pics

Image
We went back to the deer camp last weekend to hang out and watch the LSU game with the family. Katie had parents night out at Gymnastics on Friday so she and I did not go until Saturday so that she could have a sleepover. Matt picked up Lillian on Friday so she could go the whole weekend and they had a nice morning even though the hunt wasn’t what they hoped Katie and I got there Saturday afternoon and Matt took us for a ride to see his flowers and take some pics. I LOVE the way this one turned out, and you’ve never know it took about 35 tries because no one could keep their eyes open with the sun in our eyes. 🤣 He got some other good ones! And we had a nice ride And we got to see the cousins! We love this time of year at the camp! Now I’m ready for the fall weather to catch up with the fall feeling!

Football and Teal

Image
This is always a busy time of year. Between hunting season, still adjusting to school schedules, gymnastics, work… we rarely get free time. On top of that, it’s football season and Lilli has friends that play/cheer so we have been going to the middle school and high school games the last few weeks Lilli has her first “boyfriend” that plays for the middle school team so we have been going to watch. Plus, so many of my friends have kids that are playing, cheering, on dance line or in the band, that I get to hang out with as many friends as she does on those nights. And the high school games are just as fun for me as her too. I remember watching her cheer during halftime during a cheer camp in 1st grade and thinking it would be so fun to get to cheer on the team every week. That time is here and I’m loving it just as much as I thought I would. Last weekend was opening of teal season in Arkansas too. We missed the Plano McCormicks, but everyone else was there, plus Cara, Luke, Josie and Sh...

Busy Weekends

Image
It’s been a busy 10 days around here. On the 25th, the girls and I went down to Baton Rouge for a quick trip for Piper’s birthday. We got there late Friday, had a family lunch Saturday, and then took the kids to a water park Saturday afternoon. We were gone by 7AM Sunday to have some time at home for the weekend, and because GranJan was coming to visit for a night. She was going to Hot Springs with friends and stopped on the way because she had never seen the house. I wish I would have gotten some pics, but we had a nice visit and went out to eat that night.  The girls woke up Monday not feeling great (had complained of throats the day before too) so we went to the doctor and they ended up having Covid. I thought it was strep and was shocked because they didn’t even have high fevers, but I guess it’s going around a lot. They we’re technically out of quarantine after Thursday, but they ended up staying out all week. It was back to homeschooling for me so they weren’t behind. And by ...

Back to School

Image
We have officially made it through the first full week of school and it’s going well so far. The first day was Thursday, August 10th, and it was nice there were only 2 days to start to ease us into it. I did really well as we were getting ready that morning, and thought I would be ok, but I starting bawling before I was even out of the parking lot and couldn’t stop for over an hour. I laughed at myself because I knew in my head I was being ridiculous, but the tears didn’t get the message for awhile. It was the first time since Covid lockdown that they were both in school, and my heart hurt at the thought of them being gone so much. I teared up on and off the rest of the day, but it definitely made it better when they got home and had had a good day. I got to go out with the gymnastics Moms that night to celebrate Melissa’s birthday and was feeling better by then We haven’t seen Shanon, Alex and the boys nearly enough lately and he texted me a couple of weeks ago to find a weekend befor...

It’s A School Night 😩

Image
At the beginning of the summer, there always seems like there will be so much time to do lots of things together and we won’t even know what to do to fill it up. And then before we know it, it’s the first day of school eve and I’m wishing for more time. It happens every year, and even when they were homeschooling, I wished for the days of all play and no work, but that’s not life, and the day is here. We have spent the last few days getting first day ready. They got their hair done, nails done and eyebrows waxed. We did some last minute shopping and saw one last movie this morning before we met their teachers today  They are both excited and ready. Katie’s friend, Madison, is in her class and we are both thankful for that. She will have 4 teachers, but the class moves together all day so she will make friends quickly. Lilli and Maddi have no classes together, but will ride to BPSTIL for their first two classes of the day. Lilli’s very first class of the year will be her agriculture...

Summer is Almost Over

Image
Summer is almost done. When they go back to school in 6 days, it will be the first time in 3 1/2 years that both girls will be in school for a full day together and I’m dreading it. I know I’ll adjust quickly, but in the over 13 years I’ve been a Mom, there have only been 14 months of them gone that much and I prefer to have them here! I truly hope they both love their teachers, make lots of new friends and love the year, but I’m trying to make the most of the last of the time I have this summer.  We saw the Barbie movie Lilli had friends over for a pool and movie night (with another one planned tonight) Katie has had her friends over too We got to celebrate Kelli as she graduated from PTA (physical therapy assistant) school. She has been working hard the last 2 years and we are proud of her! Chad and Rachel went to Mexico for a trip alone, and the cousins went to Yaya and Capn’s. They wanted them alone (because let’s be honest, you can’t visit with kids when they are with their co...
