Spring Break in Baton Rouge

Image
We had a fun filled few days in Baton Rouge for spring break. We saw the family plenty, but did some touristy things too to make it more of a vacation. Koy came with us and me, him and Katie all stayed at Jimmy and Theresa’s and Lil stayed with Pops and Honey.  We left that morning and got there in time for the 4:00 LSU baseball game. Jimmy had gotten us amazing seats behind home plate and it was so fun. The game was honestly a little slow, but I would have stayed until the end and will never complain about a 7-0 win! But we left after the 6th inning because Anna, Katie and Anson were bored đŸ˜‰ We didn’t miss much afterwards and met Jimmy and Theresa for dinner at George’s and the kids got to play in the arcade.  Plus, as we were walking out Koy got a foul ball so it was great timing! The next morning we were up bright and early to work at the food pantry. Pops was so excited to have his family there helping and the girls finished up their service hours for National Honor Socie...

Birthday and Baseball

Image
Maybe now that I am no longer working as an assistant and not on my computer 24/7, I’ll do better about posting blogs. But for now, I’m playing catch up for the last two weeks.  I celebrated my 42nd birthday last Friday with some of our best friends. The day started with the girls skipping school and us going to get pedicures. I had sweet notes in my cards and Kelli and I had gone to dinner the night before and I got my hot pink Stanley.  That afternoon we went to the camp and Shanon and Alex came. Matt grilled steaks for the actual birthday meal, and almost all day Saturday was spent fishing at the pond They caught around 40 fish that we fried that night and they were delicious! It was a great day.  Lilli and I got up early Sunday to go to Bossier for Koy’s last game of that weekend’s tournament. It was the first one of the season and we wanted to support him since we had missed Saturday  The score wasn’t what they wanted, but he played great and it was fun to watch...

Craig Camp Weekend and Last Weekend

Image
For the first time since Covid, we had the whole Craig group (minus Anna who was working) at the camp for a weekend. I think all but Michaelyn, Rick and Daniel had been up at some point in these 4 years, but not all together.  We did a lot of shooting  A lot of riding, hiking and sitting by a fire  And of course a lot of eating!  It had been a LONG time since we had had more than an hour or two at a time with Daniel and it was good to catch up with him and his shenanigans too Jennifer, Piper and Daniel got there late Friday and everyone but Lillian was already asleep. Katie tried SO hard to wait up, but she was exhausted from her day. She got to school at 5:45AM Friday for her Medieval Times field trip to Dallas.  She and Madison were partners and had the best time.  The weekend before was me and Matt’s Valentine’s Day date Friday, and then me and Lillian’s Mom and me day Saturday. We got facials that afternoon and went to Bulls, Bands and Barrels at the Br...

Valentine’s Day

Image
We had several days of Valentine’s Day celebrations in the McCormick house. Of course Wednesday was the actual day, and I was surprised with the greatest gifts  Beautiful flowers, and a new angel wing necklace. I don’t know if I ever posted about my old necklace, but after my mom died, I had a gold ring that had Nana’s original engagement diamond that my mom had worn since she was 16. I wore the gold for several years, but it was not really my style, and I had it put in a new setting eventually. Matt took the gold from the ring she wore, and had it melted down and made into four angel wings. My plan was to wear that forever and then when I die, the kids can each have one of the wings I didn’t wear with one of the ones I did and have a set for themselves. But last August I lost it. I have no idea what happened, I just reached for it one day and realized it wasn’t there. We assumed it would turn up, but after six months, we have accepted that it’s really gone and I was shocked when M...
