Great start to a new decade!

Yep, that's right, I turned 30 today! I had several people ask me how I felt about hitting this milestone and my answer always was something my Nana told me years ago, "you can't worry about getting older because it sure beats the alternative." She's a very wise lady and I tell you those are words I live by.  I can honestly say I never even had a secret thought in my head about worrying about this birthday.

It was a great one! I took Lilli to school and headed to work for a couple of hours. I don't think I've mentioned work on here since I only started blogging a little over a month ago so I'll fill you in a little. It's my dream job! I work as an assistant for a real estate agent that is a good friend of my Mother-in-law. I worked in the real estate industry from the time I graduated college until I started staying home with Lilli so it's a perfect fit. I go in to the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays while Lilli is at Mother's Day Out and do some work from home. Sandy is such a sweet person and I feel like the luckiest person in the world to be working for her. She took me to a fabulous lunch at Texas Street Tavern today.

She brought the flowers that are in the middle of the table and said that she channeled my Mom to ask what she should bring me.  It must have worked because although it's always nice to get flowers in a vase, I really love getting a potted plant that I'll be able to keep.  Matt always gets me potted flowers but it's not something people usually do so I really feel like Mom must have let her know what I would want.  Very special.

After lunch I picked up Lilli and we headed to Best Buy to get a new TV.  Now I don't know why Matt got a present on my birthday :) but I'm not complaining.  We had a 42' that died a few months ago so we've been watching a 27' since.  I know that's not a tiny tv but we have a pretty large entertainment center so it did look a little funny.  Matt sold his old truck a few days ago and while most is being saved, we decided to splurge a little.  I think he is one happy man!

And then my wonderful husband grilled bacon wrapped shrimp that he stuffed with monterey jack cheese and jalapenos, asparagus and mushrooms.  We of course had to have cake too so that Lilli could help blow out the candles.

six count shrimp, yes that's 6 per pound!

She even sang to me
