The Porch

We didn't spend much time at all inside the house last week because it had a great screened in porch overlooking the beach and ocean.  It had a table big enough to seat all of us and enough chairs for each adult.  It's where you could find us every morning drinking coffee, having breakfast



And Getting morning cuddles

It's also where we were every evening eating dinner

Or just hanging out, playing games, or being silly :)

Whirlwind Baton Rouge Christmas

We pulled out of our driveway at noon Friday to go down to Baton Rouge to celebrate Christmas with my side of the family. We got there just in time to help set up for the big family party. We had 17 adults and 5 kids all over for a dinner of ham, fried turkey, au gratin potatoes and a veggie casserole followed with Dad’s pound cake for dessert. It was a group effort of everyone bringing something and it was delicious! Dinner was followed by the kids opening gifts from nana plus their great aunts and uncles. Then we sent them outside while the adults played games- there was a game where you guess the Christmas carol from emojis, a white elephant exchange and trivia all complete with prizes.  Saturday morning Matt left with Dad and Ryan to go woodcock hunting. It’s become their annual tradition and they always enjoy the time together. This little girl isn’t so little anymore and I love our tradition of asking the same interview questions each year. Painting With a Twist

I haven’t gotten to hang out with my girlfriends very much in the last few months, so I decided to host a “painting with a twist” type party at the house this morning. Everyone got here about 10:00 and we started with brunch and mimosas. After we were fully stuffed, we all sat down to work on our paintings. I ordered kits from someone I found on Facebook and provided the paint and supplies. We all got to sit around catching up for 2 hours while we worked on them and they turned out super cute!   Lillian did one too the night before. I wouldn’t let her participate during the party because that was mom time. She and Kathleen also had to host the kids that came. There were 6 total and they spent most of the time outside with the chickens and on the swing, but Ashley also brought ornaments for them to paint.
