Beach Vacay 2019

Capn and Yaya are so sweet and generous and booked “Crews Quarters” for the 3rd year in a row (5th trip-3rd at this house) and we are on our way home. It was probably the best one (for our little family of 4 at least) ever! The 3 years before were clouded by a bum knee, recovery from heart surgery and being JUST barely out of having a new defibrillator last year. So for us, to have no worries and kids that are old enough to fully enjoy the beach and be someone self sufficient made it absolutely perfect. Our routine stayed pretty much the same everyday. Beach in the morning and a little pool time before lunch. Kids would nap or have quiet time for a few hours and then back to the beach with a little more pool time before dinner. That meant LOTS of cousin play time.

Katie would barely get in the water last year and this year she barely got out! The big kids all discovered the fun of a boogie board and even the littles got brave in the surf. The weather was perfect. No rain more than a sprinkle meant the current wasn’t too strong to play. The kids weren’t the only ones having fun though. The grown-ups idea may be getting to hang out and enjoy each other’s company from the comfort of our chair instead of the waves but that was exactly what we wanted!

The “adult kids” even got a date night on Wednesday while Yaya and Capn kept all 6 kids! Plus we had a nice dinner at the house all 8 of us after the kids went to bed and Capn made his famous shrimp.

We can’t thank them enough for everything already and doing these things every year is icing on the cake. I think it’s rare any of us get date nights and to be able to triple date and have a night full of love and laughter is even better.

Matt has always been a kid at heart and he never let more than a few hours go by without his pole in the water. They caught a few a couple evenings too.

He made sure all kids had a chance to reel And he took them for a crab hunt twice too.

Plus he initiated a craft project with Katie

This is definitely our happy place!
