Country Enough for Me
When we first moved in here, I went for a walk and saw cows and chickens on the neighbors property and sent Yaya and Matt a picture saying “you can’t say we don’t live in the country!” Of course they thought I was crazy, but this weekend proved I was right. It started with Matt discovering rabbits are getting in to his garden. I guess I’m married to Mr. McGregor 😉 because he waged war and sat out Friday night with his BB gun.
(On top of that it went in to the fridge. 😳) We had a no killing yard rabbit rule on Brown St. but there was no garden there so I guess it’s out the window now. Later that night, Bella and Gypsy killed a mouse that was apparently a mama because they started playing with the day old babies. Lilli threw them over the back fence for the hawk that has been around. A neighbor killed a coyote last night, this afternoon a deer ran by our back fence and Matt then went on another mission to get rid of the annoying mockingbirds. It was enough wildlife excitement for one weekend and I decided for this city girl, this is country enough for me! 😂
Before and after. The before doesn’t show the huge bush just like the one in front by the driveway but it was even bigger.

But I love this house so much. And even more today after all of the yard work. Matt got everything hedged and pretty and got the bushes I’ve hated since Day 1 out of the beds and ready for me (with Yaya’s help because I don’t know what I’m doing) to plant.

And now we can see all the way back to the field after he cut down the 2 bushes at the end of the pool. The girls are excited that we can have a water slide next year too!
It was also a REALLY big weekend for the kids because we ended up letting Lily Jordan spend the night. It was her birthday on Friday and we had already decided we’d let them have a normal play date and come inside if they wanted to so we decided what’s the difference. Her family stays home and she does virtual school so we allowed it. I don’t know if it will only be this once with flu season coming up but they had fun and I was glad for them to forget about social distancing for a day.
Only one more week of school before a whole week off for fall break and I hope we can do a lot more playing and enjoying this amazing weather.
