Christmas-ing

We have been in Christmas mode around the McCormick house. It’s definitely different this year though. We haven’t had any pancakes with Santa or done any cookie decorating. There are are no class parties and plans to do something for the season everyday. But that doesn’t mean we aren’t in the spirit in our “big kid” way. They went to a party at Heather’s last weekend. She hosted a “parents night out” and had about 10 kids over. Matt and I took advantage and had a date night and they had a blast. They were texting me asking me to pick them up later. 😊

We hated the reason, but we were glad to the cousins last Sunday. The Plano fam was in town for Rachel’s Moms funeral. It was a beautiful service celebrating her life and we were glad we could be there for them. And the kids were glad for some play time too. Kathleen got to take advantage of being homeschooled and spent the night at Yaya and Capn’s with them. I picked her up right after car line on Monday morning so that we could get home to do school. We also had plans to go see “Elf” in the theatre with Kelli that afternoon.

When we got home, Matt had surprised us by putting up outside lights. We’d both been so busy this year that I didn’t think we’d have them so I really appreciated it. ❤️ We’ve been busy with last-minute practices this week too. Kathleen‘s first state meet is coming up this Saturday and her leotard came in. She loves it!
We are looking forward to the meet, but also disappointed that we had to change our Christmas plans because this would normally be the weekend that we are in Baton Rouge volunteering with the family at the great turkey giveaway. My dad has been busy baking away to have his 500 loaves of homemade bread ready to give out with each turkey meal. ❤️

We have been up to regular life too. The girls and I have watched some Christmas movies and even played a Christmas board game.

Our chickens are all one flock now and the girls love going to sit out there to hang out with them. They are getting along great and we are anxiously awaiting our first eggs.
Lilli has decided to not try to be competitive with softball. She is still going to play league until she ages out, but feels like she may have started too late to make a school or travel team. Plus, she isn’t sure if she wants the weekend commitment that comes along with it. She is still going to sign up for spring ball, but we stopped the lessons and let her go back to horseback riding. She was beyond thrilled and said that had she know this was an option, she may have done this the whole time. She loves riding and wants to rodeo, but I don’t think we’re getting into all that 🤣

It is hard to believe it’s only 10 days until Christmas Eve! Plenty more Christmas-ing to do!
