Holidays Have Come and Gone
I swear this is the longest Christmas break we have ever had. Technically they had school the 19th and 20th, but we didn’t go, so they have been out since December 16th and don’t go back until the 9th. Over 3 weeks! It seems like forever ago that we were in Baton Rouge, but that was a whole week into the break. That sickness that hit me on Christmas Eve turned out to be the flu and it knocked me down for a full week. Christmas Day was nice. We opened gifts that morning, including the ones from each other that I felt too bad to open Christmas Eve. We had sausage balls and cinnamon rolls for breakfast and cooked our huge meal, but it ended up being dinner instead of lunch because I couldn’t get moving to help with sides before that. Yaya and Capn couldn’t come and I couldn’t even make it through a movie without falling asleep, but I did manage to read the Christmas story and keep some of our traditions.
Lilli told anyone that asked that she wanted a mini cow for Christmas. I’m not sure the one she got was what she had in mind. 😉 she got tons of clothes, makeup and hair stuff, and also an iPad. Teenage gifts! Kathleen got an air mat, hanging chair, and phone. They were happy and knew I couldn’t help being sick, but I know they were disappointed we didn’t do our lunch.
After our money and luck lunch on the 1st, we did finally get out to go see the Avatar movie. It was only the 2nd time my car had left the driveway since Christmas Eve, and the other time was only to go to the bank drive through.

By Monday, Matt was down too. For both of us it lasted 4 days of fever with having to alternate Tylenol and ibuprofen to keep it under 101. We did absolutely nothing last week and the girls were good at taking care of us. By Wednesday Lilli did say it was “getting a little rough for her and Katie.” And unfortunately we also had to cancel our New Year’s plans. Shanon, Alex and the boys, as well as Jen, Ryan and the girls were all supposed to be at the camp. We were still coughing stuff up at that point and decided to cancel and spent the night watching tv at home instead. We didn’t even bother with fireworks. Katie and I walked outside to watch when the neighbors set some off but that was it. It was crazy that I got a Happy New Year text from
Australia at like 6AM that morning too.

I think we are finally starting to feel normal again and I hope we can get in a little bit of fun for the rest of the break. It may be taking forever, but I know I’ll miss it next Monday.
