Valentine’s Day

We had several days of Valentine’s Day celebrations in the McCormick house. Of course Wednesday was the actual day, and I was surprised with the greatest gifts

Beautiful flowers, and a new angel wing necklace. I don’t know if I ever posted about my old necklace, but after my mom died, I had a gold ring that had Nana’s original engagement diamond that my mom had worn since she was 16. I wore the gold for several years, but it was not really my style, and I had it put in a new setting eventually. Matt took the gold from the ring she wore, and had it melted down and made into four angel wings. My plan was to wear that forever and then when I die, the kids can each have one of the wings I didn’t wear with one of the ones I did and have a set for themselves. But last August I lost it. I have no idea what happened, I just reached for it one day and realized it wasn’t there. We assumed it would turn up, but after six months, we have accepted that it’s really gone and I was shocked when Matt replaced it. I know it’s not the same gold that she wore, but it’s no less sentimental to me. ❤️

Lillian and Koy had their first Valentine’s Day too and he surprised her with flowers, candy, and a book. If he’s trying to win us over, he’s doing a good job because Matt and I even got a card and he got me a book too. There was even a Valentine’s Day toy for Cozy.

I do realize that they are 14 and who knows what the future holds, but he makes her happy and that makes me happy. My favorite part is that she’s her normal, weird self when he’s around and doesn’t try to change.

And he’s happy to humor her and let her be. Valentine’s Day evening was spent at his first soccer game of the season. He’s the Captain for Benton’s team and all 4 of us went to support him.

And then Friday night, Matt and I got our date night. Yaya picked the girls up from school and took them to Vivian for a girls night while we had a night alone. We got massages at 5:00 and then came home to shower and get ready for an 8:00 reservation at 2Johns. The food was delicious and we had a great time.

Thanks Yaya! I know the girls had a great day too!
