End of the Season

I swear every year hunting season gets shorter. When the kids were really small it seemed to go on forever. But now that we’re busier and they are a little more independent, it goes by much faster. Which is a good thing for all around. :) Matt said yesterday was the last day but also the best day of the year.

I’m happy he got to spend it hunting all day. He can always count on Luke for an afternoon hunt. All of the guys are die hard hunters but these two redefine that. I think they would hunt every single day for the whole 2 months if they could.

The girls and I miss him while he’s gone of course. But he’s always made it clear that we can come up anytime we want and in fact says we don’t come enough. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE it up there. But there’s something about being home on the weekend too. And this last weekend I got to enjoy it as much as he did! Yaya took Austin, Josey, Lilli and Katie for a sleepover Saturday night.
Chad and Rachel we’re going to a birthday party and she invited the girls to stay too. I didn’t spend the night for two reasons. 1. because I didn’t want to have to mess with bringing the dogs. But I would be lying if I said that was the main reason. I got the house to myself for the night and that very rarely happens! I left Vivian and went to dinner with Cara and we shopped for her baby shower, I got a massage with my Christmas gift certificate, and then I came home and watched two chick flicks that Matt would never want to watch in a quiet house. And I slept till after 8 o’clock Sunday! That morning I went to church and then met Yaya at Josh and Hailey‘s house for Lane‘s second birthday. The kids were so excited to go play that they did not even say hi even though I had not seen them in a day.

It was a cute cute party and so fun! I think all 4 of us were very happy with how we got to spend the last weekend of hunting season. But we are ready to have our Daddy back!
