Life Changes

As I turn my office in to a classroom and think about how this definitely wasn’t the plan, I’m reminded of the Thomas Rhett song that says “you make your plans and you hear GOD laughing, life changes...” this was NOT the plan. When we moved in this house I was so excited for my office that was MY space. I put my desk and a little elliptical in there with plenty of space in the middle for my Pilates mat. We were in quarantine but I never would have thought we would still be when school started 3 months later!

(I never got a “before” picture before the process started- you can see Katie’s desk and the reading bean bag were already there)
And now...

my desk and elliptical are still there but it also has two other desks and the walls are covered in school posters and my Pilates space is usually covered with art projects.

Half of my work stuff has been moved to my closet to make room in the bookshelves for school supplies....

And I’m pretty excited about it! The State requires you to name our school so welcome to the first look of Little Garden Academy (LGA). Yes, maybe we’re cheesy but they all said McCormick Elementary was too boring so Matt came up with this. That’s what we all call his garden at the house and we will be “growing” their knowledge. ❤️

I’ve been glad for this project to keep me busy the last few weeks. That’s what gets you through this isolation- lots of projects. The first part of quarantine went fine. We were living at the cabin and loving all the space, totally wrapped up in our move and probably wouldn’t have been doing too much other than that anyway. Not long after we moved in to the new house things got rough for me. The reality hit that this was going on for a LONG time and there was no end in sight. I really struggled trying to find some ways to not go crazy. But we’ve found ways to socialize from a distance and since I got past that I’ve been ok again. I finally realized what a blessing this is. When Lillian started Kindergarten in 2015 I thought my time with my kids was done. Yes, we had summer breaks but that was always busy with trips and play dates. The girls were starting new schools this year and I wasn’t going to get as involved with the PLT and my goal was to double my 2019 Real Estate earnings by the end of 2021. But I can hear GOD laughing. That’s obviously not his plan for me and Corona has reminded me of something I should never forget... I’m not in charge. Because not only am I the President and one of only two members of the Little Garden Academy PTL, I’m also seriously considering putting my license on hold after I get my 2 listings sold so the girls learning doesn’t suffer. And I’m ok with it and still playing that by ear. Maybe this will be this school year, maybe it will be longer. Who knows what the future holds. But for now I’m enjoying this unexpected family time.

“Ain't it funny how life changes
You wake up, ain't nothing the same and life changes
You can't stop it, just hop on the train and
You never know what's gonna happen
You make your plans and you hear GOD laughing
Life changes, and I wouldn't change it for the world”
