Last Week of Summer Fun

The kids had a fun first part of the week at our house. They played in the pool, played Roblox with the cousins on the iPad and just generally enjoyed each other’s company.

On Monday we met Lily Jordan for some Gelati at Happy Belly’s in Shreveport and the cousins got to come too. This is the 5th or 6th week in a row we’ve gotten together for a drive through picnic. We go through a drive-through and then park next to each other and roll down the windows. No one ever gets out of the car but this time Lily and Lillian wanted a picture in their masks. They are the only family I know that is still quarantined and no one has health issues. We’re not able to get within 6 feet because her dad is military so he goes to work and Kelli shops at the commissary but they haven’t been anywhere or gotten together with anyone since March either. It can definitely get hard on the kids so we decided to do this a while back to be sure that the kids still got some face-to-face time.

That evening Rachel came to spend the night for a girls night. We played in the pool with the kids, ate Monjunis lasagna, ATTEMPTED to watch Hamilton again (only saw about 40 minutes, lol) and then went for a walk together Tuesday morning before she took all the kids back to the camp with her.

As much as the kids need each other, I honestly don’t know what I would do without having her either. Sometimes you just need someone to talk to you that is going through the same thing and being able to get a break is priceless. Matt and I are getting a quiet, alone night complete with the first steak in months to go with it

We’ll go up there tomorrow to stay until Friday to avoid the noise of our new roof going on. The paint is done and I’ll post pictures when it’s 100% finished. I’m loving the updates!
