It Almost Felt Normal
It was a big few days in this McCormick house because after 6 months of practically no socializing, the girls each got to spend time with their best friend. ❤️ It was a total surprise to both of them but we are finally close to that milestone of Matt being out of the hospital for a year and it was time. We’re not going to be seeing everybody in the world but Kelli and her whole family have been mostly staying in since March and Britney’s mom is battling cancer so we know they are also super careful. We have been studying mammals the last couple of weeks in science so we decided to take advantage of the nice weather and go to Gators and Friends on Friday and invited Lily Jordan (she’s doing virtual school). This was HUGE because other than blueberry picking in May, it was the first time the girls had been anywhere other than Vivian, the deer camp or to meet a friend to have a picnic next to each other in a parked car. We only stayed about an hour but it was fun and they loved it!
Everyone decided that wasn’t enough time for the first play date so they came back to the house to go swimming. It was Lily and Ethan’s first time in a pool all summer so we were glad we could make it happen before it’s too cold! We stayed outside the whole time and they kept distance but had a blast! I warned the girls that this is probably as good as it’s going to get for socializing until there’s a vaccine so they should enjoy it. I know they are ready for piling on the couch to play and watch movies together at a sleepover but that will come and they are happy with this for now.
This morning was a REALLY big surprise because Britney and Bella came to play. Heather and I have been planning it all week but didn’t tell the girls until today. Katie and Britney have been friends since they were 2 and talk almost everyday over FaceTime but a real life play date was what they had been needing.
So excited to take advantage of the nice weather forecast and do this more often for a little while.
