McCormick Beach Trip

This is the 7th year the McCormicks have had a week long trip of family fun in Gulf Shores. We started in 2015 and only missed in 2020 because of Covid, so it’s definitely something we look forward to all year long.

This year was a little different because everyone’s schedules kept them from staying the whole time, but we did get a couple of days with everyone together. The 4 of us, and Yaya and Capn all arrived on Saturday. We had a couple of nice, quiet days just chilling on the beach together. The girls swam and played in the ocean, tossed the softball and even went crabbing alone.

It was really sweet how much they enjoyed each other’s company but they were ready for cousins by the time Austin and Josey got there on Monday morning. We spent Monday and Tuesday on the beach and each family took off on their own for a lunch out and souvenir shopping one day.

Lane’s last softball game of the season was Tuesday evening and their family drove overnight that night to get there early Wednesday morning. And we finally got the cousin time we’d been waiting for!- all 6 kids together.

There was beach time, pool time, iPad time, baseball, kite flying and crabbing. It didn’t matter where they were or what they were doing, they just wanted to be together.

They only spent a few hours on the beach each day but it’s always been me and Matt’s happy place and we stayed for probably 8 hours a day.

I read 5 books and he spent hours with his fishing pole in the water. We could have stayed there for weeks more, but reality called and we had to leave this morning, a day before everyone else. Raegan had been house sitting
And was leaving on her vacation today and we didn’t have anyone else to go take care of the dogs. Plus, work had gotten busy all of the sudden and I spent half the drive home working on a deal that just came up that morning and have to show to out of town buyers this weekend. We were sad to go, but by the time we were on our way home, we were all glad to be. We missed the animals and it helped that we got to come home to our pool done and fresh berries and veggies in the garden to pick

These trips make memories we will all have forever and we all love the time together. It’s such a blessing to be able to go and thank Yaya and Capn for making it happen. Already looking forward to next year!
