Mom and Me
Last weekend was our 2nd annual Lil and Mom trip. Between spending almost every weekend of hunting season at the camp with Matt while KJ and I stay home, and being at school all day, I know I get a lot less time with her than I do Kathleen. So last year I started our one on one trip to get in some good, uninterrupted time together. We looked at a few different places within a few hours of here but decided to go to Hot Springs again because the timing was perfect to see the tulips at Garvan Gardens.
That was our first stop and we spent about an hour and a half walking around, enjoying the beautiful scenery and day.
When we had enough shopping, we drove over to the Mid-America Science Museum. Hay Hay mentioned the Dino trail and knew Lilli would like it. She may have outgrown toys, but her dinosaurs are some of the ones she still can’t bring herself to let me get rid of
After that walk, we decided we were pretty tired and went to the hotel to get checked in and chill a bit before going to a movie that evening. It was a long, full day, but so much fun to get time with her one on one.

From there, we drove to downtown to walk around, have lunch and do some shopping. We also decided to check out the wax museum which was part cool, part creepy. 😉

I told Kathleen that she can start the tradition next year when she’s back in school. She’s looking forward to her turn, but she enjoyed her one on one time with Matt too. They didn’t do too much all day, but they got dressed up and went to dinner for a Daddy daughter date that night
It was a wonderful weekend that was made even better by starting with girl time Friday. Kathleen hung out with Ella all afternoon until after dinner, and I got a girls night out. Yaya took me, Hailey and Julie to a fancy dinner at Ernests’s, followed by going to see the comedian, John Crist at the Strand. I haven’t laughed that hard in a long time and it’s always good for the soul
