End of Hunting, Summit, Awards, and More Birthdaying
It was a super busy week around here since Lillian’s Birthday. Her birthday fell on a Thursday and we didn’t celebrate the weekend after because she was at a church retreat through Cypress Baptist. Summit is a big deal every year for 6-12 graders and hundreds of kids go. They all stay in host homes, have 4 church services, 3 small group Bible studies and plenty of fun.
Lillian and Brynn were not put in a house with their other friends, and I was worried for a bit that it was going to be an issue, but they made the most of it and I was super proud of how they handled it.
(Having puppies at the house helped I’m sure!)
Kelli and I went to a movie alone on Saturday and I came home to a quiet house because Matt and Katie had gone to spend the last Sunday of the season hunting. Katie got her first duck too!
Nana was surprised at church that morning with a lifetime mission award for all of her years of service through United Methodist Women. And the next day Katie was awarded for her 4.0 last semester
Koy’s birthday was Thursday (he’s one week younger) and they got to celebrate. We all went to his sister’s first softball game of the season and to dinner.
The next night was their joint birthday party. They both wanted a dinner with friends and to come back here after so we decided there was no need to do that twice!

Lillian said the services at night were so moving that she would be bawling crying, and she’s been doing nightly Bible reading ever since. She wants to get back into going on Sunday mornings too. I’m so glad that they have this experience together and there was plenty of fun too. They rented out all of Party Central Saturday afternoon and got to play some sports at the Fieldhouse during downtime

There were 19 or 20 teenagers, and all of the parents had invited friends and family too, so I think we had 40 total. (Katie was at a friend’s party) We had a buffet with brisket, turkey, chicken tenders, fries and au gratin potatoes with white chocolate raspberry Nothing Bundt cake and cookie cake for dessert. We were there 5:30-7:30 and the kids came back to our house after. The boys left at 11:00, and all 9 girls spent the night!
The rest of the weekend was pretty chill with some puppy play time and a 1st driving lesson. She’s driven Matt‘s truck at the deer camp, but I took her out around the block today. She’ll take Driver’s Ed this fall, so it’s not too early to start some neighborhood laps. Crazy that time is almost here!
