Laid Back Baton Rouge Trip

YWe went down to Baton Rouge for the weekend to visit with the family and see Dad's house under construction.  He is completely remodeling the whole main area to create an open floor plan.  I forgot to take pictures while we were there during the day but my Dad sent this one night last week.

You are standing at the front door facing the kitchen.  This used to be 3 rooms! It's going to be amazing and we will really enjoy getting the family together in the new space.  It will probably be close to completed when we go back for Halloween so I'm already looking forward to that.

Lilli spent the whole weekend playing with her cousins and that's just the way she likes it.  We went straight to Jimmy and Theresa's house Friday evening and almost the whole family came to hang out and have pizza.  Theresa walked all 5 kids to the park after dinner.  We told her she was crazy and tried to help but she figured if she raised 4 she could handle one more for an hour. :) The kids loved it and mine really needed to burn off energy after the looong (I forget how bad it gets on game weekends) car ride so I especially appreciated it.

Lizard took the 3 older girls home from there for a sleepover at her house.  They had a blast! They all slept downstairs together (including lizard) and watched The Barbie Movie.  They loved their "girls night!"

Even though he now knows it wouldn't have been any fun for him, Daniel was a little disappointed that he wasn't invited so we made sure he had fun too.  Jimmy took him for ice cream while I went to Janet's house to put Katie to bed and then I took him to see Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.  We didn't get in bed until midnight so that was a late night for me but it was fun to be thought of as the "cool" aunt for the day. Katie liked having him there to play with the next morning too.

Nana, Peggy and Lizard (with the girls) met us at Dad's house Saturday morning so we could see the walls out and designer's plans. Then we all stopped at a local po-boy place before going over to Jen's to see the work being done on HER house.  She had some cabinets taken out and everything painted and it looks really good.  I know she's happy with it and we're excited for her.

That evening Janet cooked for me, Jen, the kids and Michaelyn and Rick (Ryan was flying and Allie was at the game).  She's been doing Sunday dinners for the last couple of months but switched it to Saturday this week so the girls and I could be there.  She's an excellent cook and we really appreciated her doing it and opening her house up to us for the weekend.  I think the kids favorite part was the bathtub and I don't blame them because after everyone left I enjoyed it too.

It was a pretty laid back weekend mostly spent hanging out at different houses and that was a nice change of pace from out typical visits.  Our schedules are usually so crazy and we're running all over town seeing different people so sometimes it nice to make the trip for no other reason than we just want to go.
