Logan Pass
The 4 of us got up bright and early Saturday morning to make our way in to Glacier National Park for a drive down Going to the Sun Road to Logan Pass. It's located along the Continental Divide and, at 6,646 feet, it is the highest point on Going to the Sun Road. This was the one thing I really wanted to do and I'm so glad we did. At first we were wondering where the name Going to the Sun Road came from but it didn't take long to have a good idea. It was a 32 mile drive up winding, narrow roads. Some of which were a little scary with drops not far from the side and it made us wish we had put insurance on the rental car. :)
We didn't stop for any pictures on the way back down the mountain because I was honestly too chicken to be stopped on the side of that road. But once we were back down we did stop in front of a stream with a waterfall in the background for one more. We wanted to stop atLake McDonald too but Katie had fallen asleep and we didn't want to wake her. Next time!
We hiked about 1/2 mile to a good rock to stop and look at the view. The whole hike was 1.5 miles up (3 miles at some times but half was closed due to bear risk- yikes!). We would have done the whole thing but Katie Jane was refusing to walk so that was far enough carrying a 30 lb weight. This was by far my favorite spot the whole trip.
