Baton Rouge Birthdays

The girls checked out of school before lunch Friday so we could drive down to Baton Rouge for some early birthday celebrations. I looked at the calendar a few weeks ago and this was the only weekend we had free until Easter and I hadn’t seen Nana since Christmas (saw most everyone else in January at the deer camp) so we decided to go. It was Gypsy’s first time to travel and first time to sleep anywhere but our house since we got her. She did great on the drives. Slept the entire way down there and back.

She did pretty well adjusting. Friday was rough for her because she found Angel (the greyhound) terrifying and we were only at the house for an hour before I put her in the kennel so that we can go to dinner. She kind of snapped at the other dogs and really seem to be stressed but by Sunday morning they were sharing a bed.

The dinner Friday night was for my Papa’s (what would have been) 94th birthday. They go to his favorite Mexican restaurant every year and this is the first time I’ve ever been in town to go.

That empty chair between me and Nana with a margarita in front of it is for him.

Saturday Lizard, Nana and Honey took the girls to see some
Baby goats (less than a week old) at Lizard’s friend’s farm while Jen and I went to Trader Joe’s and hung out with Dad while he cooked dinner.

Lillian is convinced we need one and even wrote up a presentation to present to Matt tonight. She researched their needs from type of food to space needed and even included estimated costs.

I don’t know if it will convince him but the effort is impressive for a 10 year old regardless.
The bottom picture is the top of some plastic drawers that were going in the trash. Matt saw it over the weekend and took a pic and then decided he had to cut it off to save. He sent this text:
I had to take a picture of this when I saw it out by the trash. It is one beautiful personality. 🥰

Saturday night was my birthday party with the family. I didn’t take any pics but Ryan did get one video.

It was a nice evening and I always love getting to celebrate with my family. Sunday morning we all went to church together and then we got on the road. Our trips are always short and sweet but I hope to get a longer visit for Easter. 😊
