4th Of July 2020

The 4th of July is usually spent at the lake surrounded by family and friends but Covid-19 messed up yet another tradition. Austin and Josey came to spend the night at our house Thursday and by Friday they were all 4 begging for one more night.(Actually the way Josey asked was by asking me at 8:30 AM what was for dinner. When I told her she wouldn’t be here for dinner she said “oh yes I will.” 😂)

So instead of meeting Rachel in Plain Dealing on Friday to bring them back we let them stay and Chad and Rachel drove over to our house to hang for the 4th. The guys swam with the kids and Rachel and I spent most of the time at the kitchen window watching. 😉 It was HOT!

We grilled burgers and all of the summer veggies and then played with thunder snaps and sparklers. We were too tired for them to stay late enough for fireworks (we did watch the neighbors but poor Gypsy did NOT like it) so decided we’d save those for the next cousin sleepover. It was a much more tame than we used to do and Matt laughed this morning when he said there was a time in his life that he never thought he would wake up on July 5th with a clear head. But we definitely enjoyed the family time and it was a good holiday. Happy Birthday America!
