Four Months

My goodness it’s so crazy that this quarantine life has been going on for 4 months now. Sometimes it seems like it’s been going on FOREVER and sometimes it doesn’t seem too bad. But in this time we’ve sold Brown St, lived at the cabin at the camp for 5 weeks, moved in to a new house, and we’ve been here a little over 2 months. We’ve gotten used to the boredom and settled in to somewhat of a routine. Matt has been getting up and leaving for work about 6:30. He’s mowing leases and at the camp. The girls and I are still 100% home unless we go to the camp with him. We wake up in the morning and do some sort of exercise together. I try to get them to read or do SOMETHING that uses their minds mid morning (but limits on screen time is out the window!) We usually have quiet time that may be everyone alone or all together watching a movie mid day. And then they play later in the afternoon.

Tuesday was a rainy day so no mowing for Matt and he and Lilli spent 5 hours making pickles and candied peppers.

I don’t know what they would do without me. 🤣

Wednesday he picked green beans in Vivian and it was too wet to mow so he brought them home and we snapped for 3 hours. I haven’t been doing much canning but I’ve been doing tons of cooking. I’m loving the veggies and trying new recipes. I also got an ice cream maker and we’ve playing with different types of that too

Yesterday Yaya came by and we sat out in the front rockers and visited for over an hour. She had been to the vet to get Poppy’s staples out and we had some of the veggies Matt has been canning for her. I CAN.NOT.WAIT for the day we all hug and don’t have to think about social distancing. But visiting like this is always better than nothing and the kids get so excited.

I think we’ve decided to go with a private home school curriculum and my latest project is trying to design the classroom. My office will be turned into that and I’ve been on Pinterest playing around and trying to get ideas. I know it’s only one school year (unless we love it! 😉)but I have to fully commit so I’m going all in. I’ve been gathering some things for home science experiments and they couldn’t wait to try one out so we all went outside this morning To do one with baking soda and vinegar.

They thought this was very cool! This is the type of homeschool stuff I’m really excited about. The sitting down and learning math may not be so fun but I know we can do it. And maybe we can find a way to actually enjoy learning it. Maybe…😉
