Always love a trip to Rio Bonito

I texted Yaya on Thursday and asked if Lilli and I could coming swimming the next day.  They have the most beautiful pool and I don't take advantage of it near often enough.  Since Lilli's Daddy was going to be staying at the deer camp to work on Saturday, they suggested we just spend the night too. That sounded like a fabulous idea to me so, Friday afternoon, we headed that way.  Of course the first thing we did (after Lilli ate a piece of cake she spotted on the table) was change in to our swim suits to spend the afternoon in the pool.  We stayed in from the time we got there until Lilli was ready for dinner.  She was a tired little girl by the time she got in bed. Cap'n and Yaya have a tradition of grilling steaks on Friday nights.  I have no idea how long they've been doing it but I was excited I was fortunate enough to be invited this week.  I guarantee you that Lilli's Daddy is going to be PRETT...

Celebrating the 4th with a Bang!

Today was a relaxing day at home with the family.  In the 10 years that Matt and I have been together, this is the first time we've stayed home and not gone to his parents' lake house.  It fell in the middle of the week and we both had things to do tomorrow and we really wanted Lilli to be able to see fireworks for the first time.  We really missed being there but discovered that a day at home and night out with just the three of us could run a close second.  We had Chris and Carissa over for lunch and spent a few hours just hanging out and watching Lilli play in the baby pool.  Matt put some meat on the smoker even though we were going out tonight because it's "the American thing to do," haha After lunch, all 3 of us took a long nap to prepare for being up late tonight.  Then we headed to Joe's Crab Shack in the Boardwalk to have dinner while we waited for the fireworks to start. Perfect restaurant for a wait, they have a playground! We timed ...

Happy Birthday America!

Image
of course I had to pick the Mickey picture for Lilli ;) I hope everyone has a wonderful Independence Day celebrating with family and friends.  We plan to have some friends over for lunch and to go watch the fireworks at the Louisiana Boardwalk tonight.  I tried to give a very basic lesson to Lillli about what today was about this morning.  I told her that she lives in Bossier City, in the state of Louisiana and in the country of America.  And that today is America's birthday.  We talked about the flag being a symbol of our country and freedom.  I think she caught part of what I was saying but what she really wanted to know was if there is going to be cake at today's birthday party. :) Happy 4th everyone!

Missing her friend today

The first thing Lilli asked me before she was even out of bed this morning was if the "udder Lily" was coming to play today.  I told her that she was going to be on a trip with her Mommy and Daddy for a few days but she would be back soon.  Her response? "Awww, what kid am I going to see today?" I think this kid needs a sibling. :) Those girls have too much fun together.  And they're really even pretty good about sharing... for 2 year olds. Watching Finding Nemo and winding down for a nap  Good thing we're planning on meeting up with the Stinsons at the fireworks tonight so she can "see another kid" today. haha

Lilli+Lily= Twice the fun!

Today was the first day Lily came to play with us and it was so much fun! She's going to be here most days in July and I think my Lilli is super excited about that! She's here from a little after 8 till a little after 4 and there was not a dull minute.  Luckily they do nap on the same schedule so I got a little time to get in a workout and shower today too.  We colored, played outside, pulled every toy we own out in the living room, played with Jackson, watched the fish.... Some things I learned were that I'm probably going to stick with calling Lilli, Lillian.  The same name was hard, they never knew who I was talking too, haha.  And toys that there are two of, are the best ones.  They really did share well but they always seemed to want what the other had.  As Lily was leaving this evening Lillian said "I want her to come back tomorrow." That's a good start!

Baby Weekend!

We had a great time in Dallas this weekend! We left Saturday morning and drove to Holman and Brandi's house to meet Chance.  He's almost 6 weeks old now and we couldn't wait another day to get to see him.  He is so cute and sweet and we really loved getting a good visit with his parents too.  Lilli showing him his toys She made a fort. :) We left their house and drove to Chad and Rachel's to visit with them and Austin.  It was the first time we'd gotten to spend time with Austin without a lot of people around so it was really nice to get to hold and love on him and catch up with Chad and Rachel.   Lilli really wanted to help Cha Cha with bottles and feedings. Jen and Lilah came over too and those two girls ran around the house and had so much fun together after they warmed up to each other. "Mom, can you make them be quiet?" "I'm trying to sleep" Chad cooked us the most delicious fis...

Morning playdate at home

Image
They were whispering as they ate their mac n cheese.  We wondered what they could possibly be talking about and Hunter's answer?... fruit cups.  Haha Cara's sister, Allison, is babysitting a little boy that is Lilli's age.  We decided to get them together for a playdate today because I think they were both going a little stir crazy.  I pulled out all of Lilli's big toys and covered the room with things for them to do.  It was like Christmas morning for Lilli because I don't usually let her mess up the living room like that.  Poor deprived child. :) They played well together and I was glad she got to practice sharing her toys at home before "other Lily" (as Lilli calls her) starts coming over next week. Cara, Allison, Carissa and I got to talk while we laughed at the two of them and ate chicken salad and angel food cake for lunch.  Playdates are more for the adults than the kids I think.
