Life #8?
So Matt was lighting the pilot on the griddle last night unknowing that there was a small gas leak that proceeded to explode in his face.
He was lucky that is was a pretty quick flash burn and this bubble on his middle finger and a spot about similar size on the tip of his nose seem to be the worst. (But you can also see the rest of his hand is gray and leathery and pretty painful) He had to shave his beard back to a goatee and he has no nose hair and about half his eyelashes but it could have been much worse. He said the fireball was about the size of the kitchen but it was so fast it was mainly just his right hand (which has zero hair below the elbow) and face that got hit. He says my post should mainly be to emphasize how important it is to stay safe around gas and not get too comfortable. It’s so crazy and something you think you’ll only see in the movies and definitely has us both shaken up. He Went to the doctor and got it wrapped up and it will be this way for several days but for now I’m glad he’s ok. I asked if we could just keep this life. It’s one of those things that’s funny even though not really. As we sat in the hospital one of those 13 nights this last spring we counted 7 close calls so we think we’ll save #8 for a later date. 😉
Dinner at Nicky’s with friends and a margarita can heal almost any pain. 😉

For now we’re back to enjoying life and counting blessings and thankful for time together and with friends.
