We Survived
We made it through the first few days of school with no tears! (For them or me, lol) I’ll call that a success. I thought about moving the start date back because our roofers were going to be working all day Wednesday but decided having to work through unexpected things was going to be part of it so we started anyway. I’m so happy with the way the house turned out!
(The Andy’s was after we finished our first full day Friday)
But I seriously love what we found (now we’re looking for larger pots to put them in) and the best part may be that it blocks the windows and the dogs no longer bark at every person that walks by! It’s been an issue because Bella had never been able to see outside at the old house and she felt like she needed to be on high alert here.
Before we moved in we painted the classroom/office, master bedroom and dining room, Added new floors upstairs, and Put up a new fence. That was all the stuff we planned when we made the offer. THE DAY we closed, Bossier was hit with a record hail storm and we needed a new roof and paint. That may have not been the plan but it was a blessing in disguise because I LOVE it!
Yaya came by Thursday with pizza for lunch and a pot of spaghetti that they had for dinner and lunch the next day (the girls request) so that she could see how it turned out and hear about school.

She heard all about it and she and I sat outside and talked about our plan for the front flowerbeds. She’s going to help me with some landscaping once it’s not a millions degrees and I really hope that she can teach me to love it as much as she does. For now, when she’s asking what I want, my only answer is something easy to put Christmas lights on. 😉 I had been asking her advice on the front porch too so we decided to take advantage of being done with school mid day and went to Ellis Pottery. She went in and looked around and sent pictures of some ideas. I put on my mask and walked around looking at things outside. The employees probably thought I was a crazy person because I walked around the perimeter of the tent before I could convince myself it was no different to go under it. 🤪 it was the closest I’d been to a shopping trip since March and my anxiety was through the roof!

All in all a successful first few days of school. Katie says it’s fun and may want to do school like this forever. Lilli says it’s “not as bad as she thought it would be” and I’ll take that as a win too! I love we can have lunch with Yaya mid day and as soon as the pandemic is over we’re going to a restaurant! Once it cools off we may go to some outdoor field trips too. I know it’s only been 3 days of review so I’m not kidding myself that everyday will be wonderful. But it was a great start!
