Coco is Out of Quarantine
After two long weeks of quarantine in her jar with a mask, Coco is out!
And she’s already up to her usual mischief. She made a mess in the dining room with m&ms and filled the advent calendars with toys and treats. They got mini toy dogs yesterday, hatchimals today and there are Hershey kisses everyday. They’re always so excited to see what will be there. And of course they had to write their letters to Santa for her to deliver
I hope they were good enough ๐
It was a good way to start the day yesterday before poor Katie had to go get allergy tested. We’ve been throwing medicines at it for months and she was up to a minimum of two, sometimes three a day and we didn’t even know what we were treating. Between that and that one day at deer camp back in May that kind of scared me, I wanted to figure out exactly what she’s allergic to.

The test was miserable for her but she handled it like a champ! We got the special treatment with 2 doctors coming in to talk to us after because her back “lit up” and she responded to 28 of the 44 common inhalant allergens, some more than others. They told her she was the famous patient of the day. In fact, even today, the grasses are still red and swollen and that’s after 3 doses of Benadryl. So she’s pretty much allergic to outside ๐ AND cats, dogs and dust. The doctors came in to tell us that unless we planned to not spend as much time at the camp or get rid of our animals, they really recommended that she start allergy shots to try to build up an immunity because they could get even worse as she gets older otherwise. She will go in weekly for 30 weeks and then after that, will go monthly for three years. And they want me to carry an epipen in case she ever has a bad reaction that doesn’t calm with Benadryl. But on the plus side, they said after that length of treatment a lot of their patients are pretty much down to only seasonal allergy medicine needs. Kind of crazy that they’ve found a way to almost cure. So as soon as we can that will start because, as you can see from the pictures, getting rid of the animals is not going to happen and this is how she likes to sleep most nights. She told the doctor she’d take a shot everyday if it meant keeping her cat ๐
