3rd Time’s the Charm
The last time we were in Baton Rouge was the last weekend of July and 2 weeks before school started. 2 1/2 months isn’t that unusual for us but it felt like forever since the last TWO visits had to be canceled the day before we were supposed to leave each time. We were going the first time for Piper’s birthday Party but Hurricane Ida canceled that plan. We were going the 2nd time just for a visit because we had been disappointed about the last canceled trip but Lillian got quarantined because of being a close contact with a positive Covid case the day before we were supposed to be leaving for the 2nd. So I was almost afraid to even tell the kids we were going for fear of it jinxing it but we finally made it. It was very low key. We got there about noon on Saturday and hung around Dad’s for the afternoon. Jimmy came and picked up the 4 girls and took them for ice cream while Allie and I went to see Nana and then everyone went to Dad’s for dinner and the game.
Saturday morning everyone came back over and I made a big brunch for the whole family. Even Daniel stopped by and that was the first time Dad had all 5 grandkids at the same time since Easter.
Jennifer, Allie and I took the kids to see the new James Bond movie in the afternoon.
They had to take pics in the photo booth
Sorry, Gyp, everyone has to wear a mask when they go see Nana. 😉

The 4 girls never separated and they had the best time together. I love that they are friends as well as cousins and talk on the phone almost everyday. ❤️It was so nice to have no big plans and get to hang out and enjoy each other’s company. (And we definitely missed Matt who had been planning to come but threw out his back at work a few days before) We stopped by Nana’s on the way out of town today to get some one on one time without a crowd with her and so the girls could see her new apartment now that kids are allowed in. (She moved in to a bigger one over the summer) The visits are never long enough but we always love what we get. And Jimmy is talking about bringing her up for Halloween so she can see the house and I hope that can happen. 🥰 The best part of the timing of this trip is we got home today and still have 6 full days before we are back to normal schedule. Gotta love fall break!
