Merry Christmas!

We have had a wonderful Christmas weekend celebrating with family. Our holiday got to start on the 23rd because Chad surprised Rachel with a night out and we got an impromptu sleepover with Austin and Josey.

We got to wake up on Friday morning to a surprise from Coco. She wrote her note in m&ms and by 8:30AM they had eaten them all as well as the cotton candy she had wrapped under the tree

We got to Yaya and Capn’s house about noon and they played ALL afternoon. They rode around, made gingerbread houses, made reindeer food and of course there were presents!

By 6:30 Katie had crawled in Matt’s lap and told him she was going to fall asleep if we didn’t go home. ❤️But we had to let Yaya read The Night Before Christmas first. It sure beat watching her do it on the phone last year! What a blessing to have our traditions back this year.

We woke up Christmas morning to some happy girls. They only had a few things on their wish list this year so they pretty much got them all. The big gifts were a 50 gallon aquarium and a new phone for Lillian. (The phone was actually a surprise and not even something she had asked for, but she’s proved herself to be very responsible after having her iPhone 7 for a year and a half so we told Santa it was ok). She also got several things to put in her redecorated room from us. Katie got a balance beam and keyboard from Santa and a roly poly to practice her backhand springs from me and Matt.

She pretty much has a gymnastics studio now. 😊 We played with all the new toys and got the aquarium moved upstairs during the morning. Yaya and Capn came for our Christmas lunch of prime rib, cream spinach, bacon wrapped green beans, and mashed potatoes. We had a really nice visit and it was wonderful to be able to spend some time with family today.

The rest of the afternoon was spent watching movies and napping before Matt and Lillian left to go to the camp at around 7 o’clock. They are going to go duck hunting in the morning and didn’t want to have to leave at 4 AM. Katie and I will enjoy the next few days together and look forward to another week to relax. Definitely loving this holiday season. And counting our blessings that it got to be back to normal this year.
