Cousin Camp Week 1

This week is our 5th annual “Cousin Camp” and we are going strong with no end in sight! Anna is 16 and working as a lifeguard so it’s the 1st time she hasn’t been here too, but Piper came back with us from Baton Rouge and we are into our 1st week of camp. Our original thought was to meet up for her to go back this coming Friday, but the girls are having fun and we haven’t had any bickering, so we don’t have an end date set yet. It’ll be sometime next week. Last Friday and Saturday were pretty chill days by the pool.

Saturday night was Kathleen’s awards banquet and we all went. Her bronze team got the UConn award. The head coach said these girls cheer on and support each other like none other and I’ve witnessed that first hand!

She also got pins for making regionals and nationals, and award for having all scores above a 9 at nationals, two trophies for being a state (vault) and regionals (floor) champion, an award for making the regional team that represented region 8 at nationals, and an award for having the highest floor score out of everyone on the team (all ages).

She was recognized a bunch and all of her teammates cheered just as loud every time her name was called! I was glad her sister and cousin could be there too

On Sunday, we got up and went to hang out with our friends that have horses to clean stalls and ride.

Katie (English) came back with us and swam for 4 hours while Matt and I watched LSU in the World Series. We traded riding for swimming so that worked out well.

On Monday, I took them to the lake to ski for a few hours and Capn was so sweet to take them. Yaya cooked us a delicious meal too! We only stayed a few hours because they hadn’t reapplied sunscreen the day before and were hurting and didn’t want the pool. They were exhausted after playing in the lake! And I had to get home to watch LSU WIN that College World Series!

Tuesday we went to a movie, and Matt and Lilli did some chicken foot surgery while I took Kathleen to gymnastics. She had bumble foot, which is a common infection, so they cleaned and wrapped it up and we have her inside for a few days. Chickens lose heat through their feet so it would be like us being in the 100° and not being able to sweat. We hope she’s back out soon. We have also spent some time letting mama and babies be with the flock too. Not without us out there yet, but so far so good.

And today was half price game day at Surge so we decided to do that for a few hours this afternoon. It’s always a good time and I like playing the games too.

We have at least 4 more days to go and not sure exactly what we will do, but we will come up with something I’m sure! I know these weeks will be memories they have forever and I love it!
