Merry Christmas!

Image
This Christmas was so different from anything we have done in over a decade, but it was so good. Ever since Kathleen was born, we’ve had the same traditions. We celebrate in Baton Rouge with my side of the family before Christmas, we celebrate with Matt’s side in Vivian on Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day is at home with the 4 of us for most of the day, but several years Capn and Yaya have come to eat with us too. It’s been kind of a weird year for some of the family so we decided to invite my Dad and siblings to spend the day up here with us and I was so excited when they accepted. The last time I got to see my Dad or sister on Christmas Day, I was pregnant with Kathleen. Daniel and Allie had to work all but Christmas day so they didn’t make it, but everyone else was here.  Christmas Eve was still spent in Vivian with the McCormicks, but we did everything earlier than normal. We got there around 9:00 and stayed until about 2:00. It wasn’t long enough, of course, but I was glad we ...

Christmas Break is Here!

I’ll do a separate post for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but I wanted to update the first 5 days of the break first. There was no downtime when school got out for sure! That Wednesday night, Cara and I took Lillian and her friends (Kathleen was at gymnastics) to dinner to celebrate the end of the first semester and they all came back to our house to hangout until around 10:30 That’s a little earlier than their normal hangouts, but Lil and I had to be up early for her first day of Driver’s Ed. She had to be there 7:00-3:00 Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Monday. It’s crazy to think the written part is done and she only has to get in her 8 hours of driving before she has her permit.  Thursday night was our annual Christmas lights with the Olivers. We changed it up this year and went to a new place in Stonewall and it didn’t disappoint! Way more lights than Roseland and they had fun activities for the kids like a big slide you ride down on a tube and jumpy things  It will pro...

Between the Breaks

It’s funny how my time is measured now… the last 2 1/2 weeks have been such a blur but we are in the home stretch to the next school break! It was crazy that Thanksgiving was so late, because the time between the 2 was about a week shorter than normal. It seemed long though because these kids have been in holiday mode the whole time!  The first week back was Lillian getting her TIP card so that she can start Driver’s Ed this week 😳 and we saw Santa when we rejoined the gym. (They all made the nice list) That weekend was the Benton Christmas Parade and both girls were in it. Kathleen was with the gymnastics team on a float, and Lillian rode Little Rock with Vivette and the other girls that work for her  The next week was a pep squad Christmas party and a dress up day everyday at school.  This past weekend was our annual Baton Rouge Christmas and Jimmy, Theresa and Janice came in town too.  Friday night was our immediate family dinner with Dad and Janet, their kids an...

Thanksgiving Break

Image
I’ve accepted that I am going to be a week behind (at least!) in my posts. I want to keep up with this blog for family and the girls to have later, but can’t seem to find the time anymore. Oh well, better late than never!  We have been back in school for a week, but we had a great week off for Thanksgiving. It started with opening weekend of duck season,  It wasn’t the best hunt they have ever had, but they always love every second they can spend in the blind together.  Kathleen also got her 2nd deer of the season the same afternoon her Daddy got one too That Monday was a girls day. We met Cara and Yaya to see Wicked and I met Kelli for a pedicure. We also celebrated Bella’s 10th birthday. You know our dogs are spoiled and get a party complete with a cake We cooked and hung around the house Tuesday to get ready to go to the camp with the family on Wednesday. We had 3 days of family and hunting.  I even got in a deer stand for the first time! It was a very nice aftern...
