Easter Weekend in Baton Rouge
We had such a great time visiting family in Baton Rouge for Easter over the weekend. The kids are out Friday and today so we were able to leave early Friday morning and have some extra time. Friday night was a big family gathering at Jen’s house. I made lasagna and stopped at Lea’s for pies and Jen had everything we needed for lots of egg dyeing.
Katie danced to every song! And Lilli schooled everyone in shuffleboard. :)
He IS Alive! A wonderful whirlwind weekend. It’s a good thing Matt and I were in 2 cars so he could head out right after brunch and I could stay to visit longer. His headache started at the party and I thought it was exhaustion but he woke up with a temp of 101.7 this morning. :( He was a trooper through it all though and I pray it’s not the flu and no one else catches it.
And then Saturday morning I took all 5 kids to Dad’s church for the eggstravaganza. There was egg dyeing with shaving cream (probably the only way I’m going to do it now), crafts, a puppet show, a pancake breakfast, pictures with the Easter bunny and of course an egg hunt. Daniel wasn’t interested in the fun so we put him to work as a volunteer.
No trip to Baton Rouge is complete without a trip to see Mike. We did get to see him but he never woke up. I got some beautiful pics of the kids on the statue tho.
And Saturday night was a party for Janet’s 60th Birthday. It’s a tradition in my family to do something special for that milestone birthday and hers was no different. We rented the top floor of Luke’s restaurant, The Londoner and had a party with about 50 friends and family. There was a buffet dinner with wine and beer included, cake, games and dancing. Rachel (her daughter) and I planned it all. We handled decorations, invites and cake and Dad handled the Londoner tab. (Thanks Dad! :)

I felt very accomplished Easter morning. We left the party at 8:30 so in exactly a 12 hour period we got the kids to bed so the Easter bunny could come, woke up to see what he brought, hunted eggs and got dressed to be sitting at St. John’s to celebrate the fact that Jesus is risen!
