Home Health and a Spring Fling

What’s the saying? No rest for the weary? That’s sure describing our life about now. I have been going non stop since I got home Tuesday and I think Matt is feeling it today. Not that he’s doing much... but it’s definitely more than he was laying in a hospital bed. It started this morning with home health coming to teach him how to do his antibiotics.

What I thought would be quick was really about 2 hours. As soon as she left I rushed out the door to make it to the end of Lilli’s spring fling. I was worried she’d be upset that I didn’t make it on time but these girls want Daddy to be better more than anything so she was good.

From there I ran to my office and my listing to get ready to show houses tomorrow and have an open house Sunday. And then Katie and I went with Matt to his local doc (he was supposed to follow up) and got back just in time for this next dose.

His schedule will be 7:00, 3:00 and 11:00. It’s going to be hard to work around since he has to be home for them and he feels crummy for awhile after but we’ll do what we have to do! I’m just glad he’s home and on the road to getting better. This goes until May 21st and then we’ll have to go back to Houston at some point to have the his defibrillator put in. I know this staph infection can happen to anyone but the defibrillator because of his heart disease adds an extra layer. Without that having to come out he probably would have spent 5 nights instead of 13. And he developed endocarditis which probably wouldn’t have happened without the lead in his heart. But because of the risk of a sudden cardiac episode with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy..  it’s worth it to have something. (Not all with HCM have this. Only the ones with cases like his that have one or more risk factors for the cardiac episode according to his paperwork from surgery) I’m praying it can be a subcutaneous one next time though since he hasn’t come close to needing the pacemaker. I know this is a lot of information but it’s a record for our kids to refer back to one day too. And since they have a chance of developing this I want to have it on paper. Who knows what I will remember 20 or 30 years from now. :) For now I’m looking forward to a beautiful weekend watching our kids play in the yard while we soak up time just the 4 of us. And maybe getting a little of that needed rest. :)
