She Thinks We're Just Fishing

Our New Years party started on Tuesday when Shanon, Alex and Jeremiah all arrived at the deer camp to start our 3 day mini vacation. They came to hang out and watch the LSU game and so the guys could all go hunting Thursday morning. We had a fun ride around the property when they got there

                (Even Bella got to go)
Before going back to the house for dinner and the game. It didn't start until 8:00 though so nobody saw the end. (Man we're getting old! ;)

The next morning after a good hunt
Everybody loaded up to drive to Lake D'Arbonne State Park for 2 nights. We've spent New Years Eve at the deer camp for at least the last 8 years so we decided to do something different. I expected to rough it a little but I was pleasantly surprised that we were not at all! We had a 4 bedroom lodge with 2 bathrooms and stocked kitchen.

It had plenty of living space, including a screened in porch, and this was the view from our bedroom window Thursday morning.

I hiked 2 miles both mornings and both girls came the first time

But it was just me and Lilli today

We also spent a lot of time by the fire pit

And even more time on the fishing pier that was directly behind the house. Matt helped a lot but this was the first time Lilli was able to walk down, bait her hook and cast by herself. She's getting too big.
(I love Katie's tongue out in this one)

But as I took this picture I thought of the song "Just Fishin'"

We are so blessed to be able to take our kids places like this and to make these memories. And I'm so thankful for a husband that wants to do it as much as I do. Time isn't slowing down so we make the most of every minute.

"She ain't even thinkin' 'bout
What's really goin' on right now
But I guarantee this memory's a big'in
And she thinks we're just fishin'...

We ain't only fishin'"

-Trace Adkins "Just Fishin'"
