Another Season Coming To An End



Another duck season has come and gone as of today. Matt said yesterday may have been the best day of the season and I know he's sad to see it end. It flew by for me this year. Probably because I'm busier than I have been in the last few years but we are really excited to have him home next weekend!

Last Day of Summer

That’s a wrap. Summer 2019 is done and tonight is a school night. It’s been a great one. We went to the beach, Did lots of swimming, spent time with all of the cousins. But it’s time to go back and they are excited. We had Shaleigh and Lily over and went to the pool for a few hours. They had it to themselves and it was fun to spend several hours swimming and getting in one last day of play. It was also meet the teacher. Katie has Mrs. Wilhelm (top) but she is still on maternity leave until Labor Day. So for the next month she has Mrs. Huckabee who she knows because she subs and she had her several times in kindergarten. Both of Lillian‘s teachers are new to Apollo this year so we are not sure what to expect but they seemed very nice. Mrs. Winans is her homeroom and then she switches for math and science. Pancakes and Pajamas

Matt, Lilli and I all had a good time tonight at Asbury's pancakes and pajamas.  I'm not sure if it was the first time they had done this but it was the first time we'd gone at least.  All the kids came in their pjs and ate pancakes for dinner.  Then they all curled up in their sleeping bags to watch The Brave Little Toaster while the adults got to talk.  Of course this sweet picture of them laying down and being still didn't last the whole time but they loved it. It was a little long to hold their attention but no one seemed to mind.  When it was over Lilli actually said "Oh, no! I missed the whole thing," We just laughed and told her that was because she was playing through it.  I love that she really likes to go to church to see her friends and we're lucky that we like their parents so much too!

Toledo Bend 2019

We had a great 2 night mini vacation on Toledo Bend for New Years Eve. We’ve spent it celebrating with Shanon and Alex for 9 or 10 years now (something like that I think!) 😊 And every year it gets better. Most of this trip was spent fishing and hanging out. We set yo-yos when we got there and woke up Monday morning to a catfish on the line.  Look at the excitement on Katie’s face!  So, after Shanon and Matt ran to Walmart for more bait, the rest of the day was spent sitting around on the deck and fishing (and drinking mimosas of course)  Logan loved hugging the dogs. It was the sweetest! Katie had never caught a fish before and she caught 3 in 5 minutes. We got a total of 15 and that was enough for Matt to fry (first meal in his new Christmas fryer) to go with our black eyed peas, cabbage and cornbread on New Years Day.  The house the great, the scenery was beautiful and the fishing was fun. But the best part was that we were all together. Happy New Year!
