Christmas Weekend 2016
The last few years we have spent our Christmas Eve with all of our family and then spent Christmas Day at home. As nice as that is, with all that we have had going on the last several months, we decided that this year we wanted to spend the whole Christmas surrounded by family. It fell on a weekend so we went up to the camp on Thursday and Yaya and the Dallas group got up there on Friday. (Josh and Hailey alternate and it was their year to spend with her side- they did come for lunch Christmas Day though) The cousins always have the best time and the adults do too. Friday was spent playing and having typical deer camp fun
And then of course we also had to make treats for Santa, open presents and read our stories. I read the Christmas story that I've read to my girls every year and then all of the family gathered around Yaya for The Night Before Christmas. She's read it every Christmas Eve since her boys were little and Capn had a surprise for each of us with a copy of the exact same version for us to have for our kids
And I guess we had some good kiddos this year because Santa came!!! We had 4 very happy kids on Christmas morning and they got some good stuff. I had fun watching Josey dress up, watching Austin's hot wheels cars, playing with Katie's barn and waiting for Lilli's hatchimal to hatch.
Do you see the American girl dolls they got from Yaya and Capn?! |
Another year has come and gone but I love the memories we make. Matt may not have been feeling 100% but we are very thankful that he is on the road to recovery. And being surrounded by his family is the best medicine he can ask for. It may have been a different Christmas this year, but it was a good one!
Amen to that, sistah!!
