We Are HOME!
We woke up Thursday morning very hopeful that we would be back in Bossier City by the time the day was over. We were trying not to get our hopes up too high because we had hoped for that Wednesday too. They kept Matt a couple of days longer than what we originally expected because of some inflammation and fluid around his heart. It's very common but something they wanted to watch. We started feeling like home might actually happen when we noticed this written on his board:
So we waited for the doctors
And by 10:00 it was official!
Peace Out, Houston Methodist! The nurses were great but we hope to never see them again. :) |
It was a tough one! The surgery was very painful of course but it was also mentally draining on him. No matter how strong we were and how lucky we were that we had each other and a hotel to retreat to, Yaya and I can't deny that it's hard to be on this side of being in the hospital too. It kept us away from our girls for a total of 11 days but they were in great hands with Pops, Nana and Honey. And they sure were excited when we got home about 7:00 Thursday night.
Tears all around |
They thought Matt's incisions were pretty cool and they've been happy to help by getting him anything he needs. We've still got a ways to go until he's well but it's all downhill from here. I bet by the time Santa comes in 2 weeks, he'll be feeling like a new man!
