End of Summer Mini Vacay

A couple of weeks ago the girls and I decided we needed to go visit Rachel and the kids for a mini vacation for the end of summer. She and I have been talking about taking them to the Dallas World Aquarium for probably 2 years and we finally made it happen. (We were hoping case and Lane would be able to tagalong but they had cousin birthday parties so had to skip it and Yaya had just had eye surgery a few days before. we definitely missed them!) We were pulling out of the driveway by 6:15 Saturday morning and by 9:30 we were pulling in their driveway.
Lulu, you’re going to make me want a puppy!
Our first stop was the Dallas world aquarium. It was very interesting and we got there at the best time. We got to see the crocodiles, penguins and sloths all being fed. Lilli’s favorite was the crocodiles eating and Katie of course loved the cat (ocelot)

We saw a lot of really cool things and Lillian is already asking when we can go back.

From there we went straight to the Hilton Anatole to try for an early check in and to eat lunch. It was a really nice place and when they served the kids water in wine glasses they said “I feel so fancy!”

But the best part of hotel was the JadeWaters water park. There was a lazy river, 2 big slides and a kiddie area. It had stormed Saturday morning which worked out kind of perfect because it was cloudy and not so hot. Rachel and I sat in our chairs under an umbrella while the kids ran around that resort for five hours. We didn’t go up for dinner until around 830 but by 10 o’clock we had eaten in the restaurant and everyone was asleep.

Rachel left after dinner to go home to her own bed but was back early the next morning. Lillian and Austin shared a bed while I slept between Josey and Katie (because they both HAD to sleep by me 😊). They all slept till around seven and then we went down for breakfast and to play in the indoor pool until the water park opened at 9:00.

After check-out the girls and I stopped for lunch with Holman, Brandi and Chance and then made the drive home. We had some tired little girls! Lillian slept about an hour but Katie was out 10 minutes after we left the restaurant and I had to wake her up after I parked in the garage.

It was a super fun weekend and I’m so glad we got to go. We definitely need to do it more often. There’s so much to do there!

And on a different note it was a very special day for my nieces in Baton Rouge too. Piper and Anna were baptized and a lot of the family was there to celebrate.

We hate we missed it but decided to see the McCormick cousins this weekend instead. I was happy for the pics and to tell the girls how excited we were for them. A great day all around!
