Ugh! It’s Been A Week
This week started out wonderfully. We found out early in the week that Lillian was the first student of the month for her class. I went from having only one lot under contract last week to having three properties under contract and two listings by the time Wednesday was done. Everything was going great. But by Wednesday evening things started taking a turn and the last 2 days have felt like a week in itself.
Lillian came home from art that night saying she didn’t feel good and turned out she had a temp of over 101. Then minutes later Matt walked in and looked awful so I had him take his temp and it was over 102. Of course that started a long night for this mama, but I’m not complaining. I’m sure it was much worse for them. Yesterday morning I took Lillian to the doctor and hers was just a virus. But she ran fever on and off all day so she was also home today. Matt’s was much worse. He went to the doctor yesterday morning and we did not hear back from him until about 5 o’clock last night. His white count was 16,000 and they put him in the hospital at 25,000 last year. It was honestly super scary. He could barely lift his head and his words weren’t even making sense. I guess that’s all just from the high fever but I was ready to go to the ER last night and he refused. Katie may be a mama’s girl but she is just as much a daddy‘s girl and was taking care of him.
He started an oral antibiotic and went this morning for a blood culture and we should find out by Tuesday if whatever this is is also in his bloodstream. His symptoms are eerily similar to what he went through last year so he is definitely worried but I am praying that this oral med will be all he needs. He’s feeling better today but again, when he did a round of antibiotics last year he felt better during the course of them. So I’m glad we went ahead and did the culture to know for sure.
And then this afternoon I decided to go have lunch with Katie because she was upset that she was the only one leaving this morning. And she was so excited to see me that she skipped over to the table and tripped as she got there and hit her tooth on the lunchroom chair. I could tell her lip was bleeding and that her gum was bruised but she was begging me to take her home. I honestly thought she had just gotten embarrassed so I was saying no at first. But her teacher came over and said “she’s a total mess and we have done all of our graded work for the day so she is fine to go if you want to take her.” I took that as “please take her if you can.” Lol.
Glad I did because after the bleeding stopped I realized it was worse than I originally thought. (The smile is only because I was able to get a better pic that way.) I called the dentist and she’s going in Tuesday morning (too bruised to do anything today) for an x-ray and possibly to have both front teeth pulled. Luckily they are both baby teeth and one was loose before this ordeal but the badly bruised one wasn’t, but is now. But luckily as the afternoon goes on everyone is starting to feel a little better and we have three days to rest and recover. So glad it’s a three-day weekend!
