Busy Girls

We got back from our trip with full intentions of getting right back to work. Kathleen and I had one normal day, but by that night, a stomach bug took her down. I’ll spare details but it was a rough one and she was sick for a full 5 days with fever and stomach stuff. 

We did shortened school in the living room 2 more days but she really felt crummy so there was no gymnastics, soccer or art (she didn’t even feel up to the ride to take Lilli) last week. She napped everyday and never went outside. I think we watched 8 movies on Disney+, but Sammy was a good caretaker and didn’t leave her side.

Saturday was the first day of no sickness so we went to her soccer game to support the team for the 1st one of the season. The coach put her in for a few minutes but knew she had no energy since the day before was her first meal of the week.


Landry came home with us and we picked up Kaylee. We all went to a movie, they spent the night, and then came to church with us the next morning. Matt decided to stay at the camp and let us have girl time 

(He got the cabin cleaned up so we can go fishing and stay) 

Sunday was softball lessons again



Tuesday we went to the Benton High softball game to Cheer on her coach. (She’s also been practicing with the equipment we bought her)


Wednesday was art, gymnastics and church. It was our first mid week time at Cypress Baptist but that’s when they have the youth group and Lillian knew 16 (I was counting as she named them) of her friends from school there. She loves it and Katie did too. I had never even been to a Baptist service until about a month ago, but if there are EXCITED to go, it’s where we need to be. 

And today, was gymnastics and soccer for Kathleen while Lillian and I went to the i3 Art Expo. She had 2 paintings on display and “Low Water Crossing” won Honorable Mention

She also performed an original monologue in a competition 






She won 1st place!! All the kids did great and we couldn’t be more proud. The people laughed at parts that were intended to be funny and she got huge applause. For some reason it was not noted in the program that she is in the talented program, so after the show, the Director of TAP for Bossier came up to me and said they want her! 😊 I told him not to worry because they’ve already got her, lol. It was just me there since Matt has been down the last few days with (we assume) the same bug Katie had and Yaya is at the beach. I’m thankful for video so I could share the moment. ❤️ It’s been a crazy busy week but I’ll take that over home sick anyday!

Summertime!

Yesterday was Bossier’s last day of school, but we’ve been in summer mode since they got done LEAP testing a couple of weeks ago. It’s honestly so dumb that they had 10 days of school after testing because they did NOTHING. There was a whole lot of movie watching and playing on computers. On top of the fact that grades were due over a week ago, so it’s not like there was much they could have done. We stayed out on school nights, had pool days and skipped half days to hang with Pops, or friends or just to bake.  Katie had her awards and field day last Wednesday. She ended the year with Straight A’s and a member of National Honor Society. It was so fun to watch her compete in field day events and get to meet some more of her school friends too I checked Katie, Madison and Britney out of school when it was over, and they spent the afternoon in the pool and then we all (with Koy and Lil) went to Josie’s Tball game that night. Last Day of Summer

That’s a wrap. Summer 2019 is done and tonight is a school night. It’s been a great one. We went to the beach, Did lots of swimming, spent time with all of the cousins. But it’s time to go back and they are excited. We had Shaleigh and Lily over and went to the pool for a few hours. They had it to themselves and it was fun to spend several hours swimming and getting in one last day of play. It was also meet the teacher. Katie has Mrs. Wilhelm (top) but she is still on maternity leave until Labor Day. So for the next month she has Mrs. Huckabee who she knows because she subs and she had her several times in kindergarten. Both of Lillian‘s teachers are new to Apollo this year so we are not sure what to expect but they seemed very nice. Mrs. Winans is her homeroom and then she switches for math and science. Bar-J and More Baseball

For Christmas last year, Pops and Honey gave his 3 daughters and 4 granddaughters a weekend at a “dude ranch” for a gift. We picked the weekend because it was Anna and Piper’s spring break and it’s harder for Anna to miss school as a Junior than the other 3. The weather couldn’t have been anymore perfect and the timing worked out perfectly for us to celebrate Allie’s 40th birthday on the 4th too. They came in Thursday and Matt grilled steaks for her actual bday. I didn’t get one picture that night but it was a nice evening. The next morning, we got up and drove to El Dorado to the ranch. It was the “rancher’s experience” and we got in 3 rides, plus the kids got to help care for all the animals Dad has his own cabin and all 7 girls were in a bunk room together.
