Key West
We woke up Tuesday morning to a flat tire. 🤦♀️ I was worried it would ruin our day but there was a mechanic just a few doors down that plugged it and we were ready to head to Key West within 30 minutes. The total drive was almost 2 hours but it was such a beautiful and fun drive that it didn’t matter. About halfway there, we decided we were hungry and found a perfect waterside restaurant
We had AMAZING tuna nachos and I had a blackened grouper sandwich and Matt had the fish tacos
We don’t know exactly how they made these but we are on a mission to try to replicate it.
We wandered around town a bit and did some souvenir shopping and even went it to a shipwreck museum. The history was very cool but the best part was the watchtower view
Mile Zero
And pointed out some other historical places like Ernest Hemingway’s house and a famous lighthouse and the light keepers house. It was all very cool and reminded us a lot of New Orleans, except much cleaner with a much better view 😉 But we never have been “city people” for vacations so after about 3 hours we were ready to drive back. We wanted to be back in time to get showered and to dinner for sunset and also didn’t want to stay until after dark so we could enjoy the view on the drive back too.

We got to Key West about 1:00 and walked around the marina to look at the boats a bit before going to find Rick’s bar. Matt remembered hanging out there when we were there in 2007 so we had a couple of beers and people watched

We couldn’t decide if we wanted to make the over a mile walk to the southernmost point for a picture but, as we were debating if it was worth it, we came across a pedicab that agreed to take us. Meeting him made the trip! I didn’t catch his name but he was from Serbia and very interesting to talk to. He drove us to the southernmost point

We went back to one of those outdoor restaurants that were too cold the night before and now it was perfect.
We had drinks as we watched a beautiful sunset and dinner was very good too. Perfect end to another perfect day.
