2 Days Down
178 days to go. š I’m not seriously counting down yet but it has been kind of hard to get back in a routine. After 17 months of sleeping in and starting school when we wanted to last year, this is a whole new world. The girls had a good first couple of days. Lillian didn’t know anyone in her classes but by the end of the 2nd day she said there were already a few girls she liked talking to that might become friends. We got the bus figured out. She has to walk down to the corner in the mornings for 6:35 pickup, and he’ll drop off in the driveway in the afternoon. She didn’t want me to walk with her so I watered the front flowerbeds and watched. It may only be four houses down, but our lots are big enough to where it’s far enough that I plan on being out there. Even if she’s too embarrassed to have me right next to her it will be from afar.
I didn’t take any pics of me and Katie but we got started too. I broke one day up into two so that we could ease into it and have a 4 day week next week. We napped with the extra time on the 1st day. I had been too anxious about Lillian starting and hadn’t slept much, and she got stung by a wasp that morning and had to have a Benadryl so we were both tired. We shopped for shorts and a leotard and she had her first monthly allergy shot with the extra time the 2nd day.
And then last night Britney, Bella and Landry had a sleepover to celebrate the start of school. Heather needed help while she went to Houston and we were happy to have them. Uncle Jimmy sent Chick-fil-A for dinner and they stayed in the pool until dark. Lillian and Bella sat around telling each other about their first few days so it was nice to hear the friend perspective too. We’ll have a lazy weekend to get ready for the first full week and I know we need it. I thought starting on a Thursday was silly at first, but now I definitely think it was a blessing. It’s going to be a great year!
