Craig Family Weekend
After we dropped Andrew and Brooks with Kelly on Thursday morning, the girls and I headed south for a weekend in Baton Rouge and Covington with the Craig side of the family. We’ve had this weekend in Covington on the calendar for a couple of months but we went a day early to see Nana and the rest of the Baton Rouge family.
Dad, Jen and I cooked a huge meal and we had a nice visit over at Jen and Ryan’s that night.
I had seen Michaelyn once back in October when she came in town during our first post-Covid visit but it was an hour outside and we didn’t hug or anything. And hadn’t seen Rick at all. It had been WAY too long since Dad had had his family together, so Matt made the decision to drive down too. It was very sweet and everyone appreciated the effort. Especially since I told him no one would fault him after his long week, but my Dad was over the moon to have most of his family in one place.
Katie and Piper started fishing about 6:30 on Saturday morning and did not stop all day! Lilli and Anna were a little slower to wake up and took a few more chill breaks during the day.
(This is what happens EVERY time they get ahold of my phone. 🙄🤣)
I even got in the pool for 3 hours and played with them. It was too hot to do anything else! (Although most of the other adults spent that time visiting under the patio). And then last night, we attempted to watch Jaws in the pool.
You couldn’t hear it from the water though, so that idea quickly got abandoned. Dad, Jen and Michaelyn stayed for the big screen on the patio, while the rest of us watched it inside for more comfort and no mosquitoes. 😊 Katie and I didn’t make it to the end because once she slowed own, she finally crashed and wanted me with her. This morning we were all cleaned up and out by 9 AM to give Michaelyn and Rick a day before work and for us to have one too. It was a great weekend full of my family’s crazy shenanigans that I have missed so much. A year and a half was way too long to not have a weekend together.

We went to see Nana again on Friday morning and then got back in the car to drive the hour to Michaelyn and Rick’s house in Covington for the weekend. The kids were immediately in the pool and we spent the afternoon and evening swimming, fishing and going on a boat ride
