A Sad Day for Hunters in My Family

Image
Anyone that knows us knows that Matt is an AVID hunter.  From September- January every year if we're here, Matt is hunting.  Well, today is the last day of the season and I guarantee you that it's a sad day for my husband. We are very fortunate that his family has a hunting camp just 45 minutes from our house and Lilli and I are welcome to join him (almost) any weekend.  She loves it!  We spend our days outside playing in the yard or riding four wheelers and she loves when they get in from hunting and playing with the ducks.  She is growing up so differently that I did but I feel so fortunate that she is having these experiences and that this is something our family can do together.  Now, I'm never going to get up at the crack of dawn to sit in the cold but I don't doubt that she'll be right there with him as soon as she is old enough.  I enjoy our weekends there too because I just get to relax and we're not exactly roughing it.  It's a brick house wit

Catch up from the rest of the month

Since this will be made in to a book at the end of the year, I decided I needed to catch up on what else went on this month. On January 15th we had a Birthday party in Baton Rouge for Lilli. That is where most of my side of the family lives and I wanted her to be able to play with her cousins. It was an art party. We spent the afternoon decorating cookies, coloring a play house and just enjoying time with each other. It was my first attempt at a kid party and I think it went pretty well if I do say so myself. Lilli also got a "big girl" bed for her birthday.  I thought it was going to be a hard transition but she slept through the night the first night.  She really loves it.  I think it helped that I let her pick out her new bedspread that she got as a gift from her great grandma, aunts and cousin.  I took this picture after she went to sleep.  She looked so little in it to me.

Lilli's 2nd Birthday!

My Mother-in-law has had a blog for the last few years that the whole family enjoys reading.  I'd thought about starting one because I thought it would be a good way for out of town family to keep up with what we'd been doing but never wanted to commit to having to keep up with it.  A few weeks ago I saw the book that my Mother-in-law had made of all of her blog posts from the previous year.  I was sold! It was so neat to be able to go through and read about everything we had done and I decided I'd like to do the same. What a cool thing for our kids to be able to have one day.  So... here goes. Lilli at her birthday dinner Yesterday was our "baby's" 2nd birthday.  It was a rainy day so I had to come up with some indoor activiites to entertain her for the day.  We started with a lazy morning and lots of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.  She is obsessed with that show and waking up slowly and watching it is her favorite thing to do in the mornings.  Her Yaya got to ou
