State Gymnastics Meet and Scholarship Presentation

Image
It was a BIG weekend down in Baton Rouge for the McCormick and Craig families. We left at 6:30 Friday morning to make it to the Kathy Craig Scholarship Presentation at Scotlandville High School. I was excited to be able to be there and it was an honor to meet this year’s recipient. She will start LSU in the fall to major in civil engineering  I hope we didn’t overwhelm the poor girl with almost a dozen family members there, but she had a pretty good crowd of support too. We are glad to be able to help her with some things that TOPS won’t cover this first semester and I know my Mom would love the way we’ve chosen to honor her memory. We all went to lunch after and then went back to Dad’s for naps. Matt, the girls and I went to watch Piper’s horse riding lesson Friday evening before going back to Pops and Honey’s for pizza, swimming, the baseball game and a cousin sleepover.  Saturday morning the girls baked bread at the church with Pops. There is a group going down to St. Marks church i

Happy Birthday Kathleen!

In all years past I would have said Katie or KatieJane in my post title, but in her 10th year she has decided she wants to be Kathleen and I’m trying! So happy 10th Birthday Ms. Kathleen! We have had a wonderful day together and I can’t believe you are double digits- not a little kid anymore!  Look at all the birthdays through the years. That 1st birthday picture makes me laugh because I remember that morning so well. We talked and talked about her turning one and little 3 year old Lilli was so excited. Kathleen was up first and when Lilli got up she ran out, ran to her, and was so disappointed that she didn’t look any different. 🤣 she thought she was going to magically not be a baby anymore after her birthday. You can really tell how much they change in a year when you look at pictures like this though.  Today was a good day. She’s had calls and texts from family all day and she didn’t have to work at all. We opened present with Lilli early. She and I went to target for a gift for a

Saturday night was a milestone night for Ms. Lillian Leigh. First dance and first date all in one! It’s 7th grade so they really just went as friends, but not everyone went with a date so it was sweet he asked. Middle schoolers today do not look like middle schoolers in my day! No awkward phase here, lol. Maddi and her Mom, Amy (they call us the Amys 😉) came over about 2:00 to start getting ready. Khrista came over and did both of their hair and Amy did their makeup. I told Lil I was sorry she didn’t have a girly Mom because I’m no help with either! I don’t think she cared since we still made it happen  Yaya even sent flowers!  I thought we started way too early, but we were down to the wire and they were still putting on earrings and shoes as people got here for pics. We had 14 kids for pics, plus their parents and siblings all in the backyard for about 30 minutes and we got some good ones! We piled them all in 3 cars and went to Silverstar in Haughton. Me, Matt, Katie and Sadie (we

Happy Easter!

He is Risen Indeed! We have had a wonderful day today celebrating the resurrection. It’s been very different than normal because instead of traveling down to Baton Rouge, we decided to stay home just the 4 of us. I wasn’t home a single weekend in March, and we have 2 trips in April that can’t be changed, so we decided a few days ago to stay home for this one.  We got up to see what the bunny brought and had a quiet morning before going to 9:15 church at Cypress Baptist. We decided to wait until after church for the egg hunt and dyeing. They grow up so fast! Just a few years ago they would have been too excited to wait, but the appeal of not getting dirty and having more to do to get ready won out. 😉 Lilli got the golden egg this year! The afternoon was super lazy. Matt and I both napped and then we ordered dinner and watched a movie all together. We hated that we missed Allie’s birthday dinner last night and church and brunch today But it was still a nice one and the rest was very muc
