Construction Part 2

Image
I hadn't seen any of the deer camp construction in person so we went by on the way home from the lake today. It's not exactly on the way but I knew if we didn't go I'd never get to see it. We leave for the beach Saturday and by the time we get back it will have a roof on it! The view!

Memorial Day Weekend at the Lake

Image
After the wedding we headed straight to the lake for the rest of the weekend.  We got there around 3:00 Saturday and it was just our family that afternoon and evening.  We sat around talking and laughing!  We're so lucky to have family that we can also call friends.  On Sunday, we had quite a few other friends come out and meet us for the day.  There were a total of 8 kids under the age of 4.  Definitely a first for the lakehouse! All the kids had a blast swimming in the pool all day and all the adults did too. Everyone needed some rest time These girls alsway have so much fun together Cousins!

Congratulations Allison and Cole

My best friend's sister got married Saturday morning at the Silver Lake Ballroom in downtown Shreveport.  All three of us went and had a blast.  The ceremony was beautiful, the food was delicious and I don't think Lilli has ever had so much fun dancing. Congratulations Allison and Cole.  We wish you the best and thank you for letting us share your day.

Fun in the Sun!

I had a doctor's appointment this morning so Lilli got to go play with Mrs. Carissa while I was there.  I dropped her off about 9:00 and got there about 12:30 to pick her up.  Pretty much the whole time was spent in the pool. She ate all of these strawberries! She looks like she's up to something. :) Thanks so much Carissa! She had a blast! Then came home and took a 3 hour nap.  Best part for Mama!

Canfield Construction!

Today was a very exciting day for the McCormick Family.  They poured the slab for the new deer camp! This is a project Matt and Josh have been working on since early April and they are finally seeing it come to life.  The building starts tomorrow and, assuming everything goes according to plan, it's scheduled to be done in August.  It's always so nice to go to the camp during hunting season and now it's going to be REALLY nice.  The whole family will be together in one house with plenty of room for everyone to have their own space.  Here's a picture timeline of the last 2 months: Clearing and burning Building the pad Installing plumbing Formed up, ready to pour cement Pump truck beginning the pour Foundation complete!

Lilli...meet Lily

Image
Lilli's life has been pretty good the last couple of days.  Yesterday afternoon we went swimming with Hailey at her parents' house and then Lilli went home to spend the night with her and Uncle Josh.  She always has a blast when she's there! I picked her up this morning and we ran some errands and had a quiet afternoon at home.  She must have gotten worn out at their house because she ended up napping on the couch after falling asleep watching a movie.  This evening we met a friend from work at the Brownlee park with her daughter, Lily.  It turns out we have quite a bit in common.  We've both lived here for 8 years, been married to our husbands for 7 years and have 2 year old daughters named Lilli (Lily) that are less than a month apart.  The girls had fun together.  They're still a little young and mostly just "parallel play" but they got along and we plan to do it again. She was FILTY when we got home because another kid had dumped

What I like about Sundays...

Image
I love Sundays! It's almost always a day of relaxing with just the three of us at home or doing something fun as a family.  Even if we've been out of town we're usually all back together at home by the afternoon.  Today was a great one.  We woke up and had a lazy morning and then went to the 10:45 church service.  From there the 3 of us went to lunch at El Mariachi before heading to the movies to see the Disney Nature film "Chimpanzee." He didn't smile in the first so I made him take a 2nd :) Matt and I love movies but I'm the only one that likes "going" to the movies. He humors me and takes me to the blockbusters that are better in theaters but, for most part, he'd rather sit in our living room watching it in a recliner and able to pause it if we want to get up.  So I was surprised when I mentioned that Lilli wanted to see this one and he said he wanted to go.  I think it was his favorite movie experience ever. (can you hear the sarcasm

Last Crawfish of the Season

Image
Lilli loves crawfish boils. She doesn't eat them but her Daddy lets her play with them and that is so much fun! She carries them around like a pet He filled up her baby pool and let her swim with them Jack wasn't so sure about it.

Saturday morning play date

Image
What a great Saturday morning!  We didn't really get up and moving until about 9:30 and then I went for a run.  Just as we stopped to play at the park, I got a text from Rebecca inviting us over for a play date.  That sounded like much more fun to her than playing in the sand by herself so we headed over.  Their backyard is a kids dream.  Just look at this... What kid wouldn't love it? Lilli was too nervous to climb up and slide down.  She thought about it a couple of times but ended up just playing with the toys at the bottom but that was still a blast! She loved the bus and playing t-ball too.  Definitely a fun morning! Now time to rest up before we boil crawfish this afternoon.

First Pool Day of the Year

Image
Lilli and I got to go swimming for the first time this year today.  Matt is at the deer camp catching us some crawfish for tomorrow (my allergies kept us from joining him, it's bad up there!) and Lilli and I went to Chris and Carissa's apartment to swim and grill by the pool.  Last year she never had a second thought about getting in the pool from day one.  It's funny how things can change.  She was very excited about the thought of going all day but once we got there it took quite a bit of coaxing to get her to even get in the sunbathing area that's only about a foot deep.  Even once she got in she wouldn't let go of the wall for about 20 minutes.  And then it took a full hour to get her to let me hold her in the big part.  Of course after about 2 minutes she was fine and wanted everyone to get in with her. I think we're set for the rest of the year now. After playing, Chris grilled us all some chicken and vegetables before we headed home for bed. It was a re

Mother's Day Weekend

Image
Our Mother's Day weekend was full of fun from start to finish.  We woke up Saturday morning and headed straight to the lake. The day was spent with our family eating, drinking, "swimming" in the hot tub, boiling (and playing with) crawfish and boy did we LAUGH.  The only thing that could have made it more perfect was if Chad, Rachel and Austin could have been there.  We're already ready for Memorial Day weekend when that can happen. Of course Yaya was there too but she's always taking the pictures I didn't wake up until almost 9:00 on Sunday morning! I can't remember the last time I was the last one up. After we had one of Capn's famous breakfasts, we got dressed and came home.  Lilli had this surprise waiting for me: I'm pretty sure her Daddy helped her out a little bit with this one. :) After naps, all 3 of us went to Gators and Friends for the afternoon.  Exactly what I wanted for Mother's Day... something fun f
