Spring Pictures

We had family pictures and Katie's first birthday pictures taken last week. We went to the lake and pier in Dogwood subdivision one afternoon and I'm really happy with the way they turned out.  Here are a few of my favorites. Now I just have to decide what to print...

Katie Jane is 1!

I can't believe it's been a year already! She turned 1 last Saturday and we celebrated with family and friends by having a crawfish boil at the deer camp.  I know babies don't eat crawfish but I really wanted to do that for us :) so I had to come up with an idea to tie this to a little girls birthday.  That's why I went with a Princess and the Frog theme.  We had "bayou" decorations so it worked. I was really happy with the way it turned out. Hailey, Yaya and Cap'n really helped to get the tables cute. The weather was perfect for spending the afternoon outside watching the kids play and visiting.  And Matt did a great job on the crawfish! I think everyone had a good time and I am so thankful for everyone that was there making her day great.  She had fun with her presents and smash cake too. Lilli and "other" Lily "helped" her open everything and she ate ab

Easter Weekend

We spent Saturday at the lake with the whole family to celebrate Easter.  Lilli told me before we left to pack her bathing suit because she was ready to swim. I told her it would have to wait another month or so because it was still too cold.  Well... That didn't stop her! After everyone was dried off and warmed up, it was time for the first egg hunt of the weekend. Even Katie got a few.  Once Josh, Hailey and Case got there we all piled in the boat for a ride.  It was Katie's first one and she loved it!  All the kids except Katie fell asleep at some point Easter morning we were all up VERY early to see what the Easter bunny brought.  They all got some good stuff and had fun digging through their baskets.   He even ate the carrots they left out for him so that was very exciting!  After breakfast we all got ready to go to church. Lilli and I have been reading a book called "The Best Thing About Easter."  She said it was fun be with family and to get dressed up but the

I was glad Lilli didn't have to miss out on walking through the church because we weren't at home. Dad's church was more than happy to let her participate  And after church we went to Coffee Call to let them try beignets for the first time since we missed them by not being in New Orleans. Pretty sure Katie thought they were the best things. Well... Maybe besides a chocolate milkshake :)

Saturday Egg Hunts

Image
Saturday was my favorite kind of day that I spend in Baton Rouge.  We pretty much stayed busy the whole time and had lots of time with family but it didn't feel rushed.  We started by going to St.Johns Easter Egg hunt.  They had pancakes, crafts, a puppet show, an egg hunt and the Easter bunny was there! The kids had a blast!  Katie's first egg Katie didn't want anything to do with that bunny but Lilli liked him That afternoon we went to The Haven for their family Easter egg hunt. The weather was perfect to once again be able to sit outside and listen to the live music.  Lilli was a ham and put on a dancing show for all of Nana's friends.  We had some time to kill before dinner so we went for a walk through the bluebonnet swamp. Lilli was "our leader" and made us stop before each curve to make sure it was safe.  When we got back to the building where you check in they had a snake out that Lilli pet. I was not interested! But pretty cool it doesn't phase he

Dancing in the Streets

We were supposed to be in New Orleans for the French Quarter Festival this weekend but various things came up over the last few weeks and we ended up canceling last minute.  I was really looking forward to enjoying the weather by sitting outside and listening to music but we still got to do it.  Thursday night we had dinner in Perkins Rowe and then sat out and listened to some music there.  Then Friday night we went to Live after Five downtown.  We thought it would be nice to have a picnic out there for dinner but apparently that's not allowed (didn't stop us from trying to get away with it anyway but the police didn't like that ;) ) We waited till we got back to Dad's for dinner but we really enjoyed the music.  We ran in to the other cousins as we were leaving. They're with their Dad this weekend spending time with his Mom, sister and nieces that are visiting from England. Glad we got to at least get a hello and hug in. :)
